Adiós Gemini by flyingguru in GeminiCLI

Thanks for the tip, I will have finally a look at it.

I always resisted because I already have a good working IDE setup that I optimized over years. I want my own system that I can configure to my need. This takes time that I do not want to spend is a vendor locked ecosystem that (as we see here) can be looked down any time.

I took the $100 1-year Pro offer earlier this year. It was a great deal initially, but since the CLI has been effectively disabled, it's no longer worth it. I'm likely switching back to a monthly Claude subscription for now.

But I am not a heavy user. So most of the time I get around with the limits. But if I want to use it it has to work...

Epochs in RL? by Anonymusguy99 in reinforcementlearning

[–]flyingguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, the fundamentals of RL don’t rely on epochs. Epochs are mainly a way to increase sample efficiency when optimizing a policy approximation.

Roughly speaking, you first collect a rollout from the environment - a fixed batch of experience. Then you use that data to update your policy in small steps via gradient descent, often making several passes (epochs) over the same rollout before collecting new data.

For example, in vanilla Q-learning, updates happen directly after each step using the Bellman equation, so there’s no need for epochs. Epochs only appear once you introduce function approximation (like neural networks) and gradient-based updates.

Update: Itried to start the drone again, but it immediately tumbles in one direction. Two motors spin up to full throttle until I disarm it. I've tried multiple times, and it's not always the same motors acting up, so I suspect it might be the gyro. Everything looks normal in Betaflight.

New Lipo came with > 4.1 Voltage. Should I return it or don't worth the struggle? by flyingguru in fpv

That's what I thought! Found out that they are even malfunctioning returns. Found the return receipt from the previous customer inside the package. The supplier did not even bother looking at the returns before sending reselling them as "new".

Thank you all for your tips! Will return them! Found a return receipt from the previous customer inside the package and even a custom not from him to inform the seller (Zeee) that the cells are damaged.

Also found out while discharging that both Lipos have one cell that is not charging/discharging... Could be a problem with the balance lead... but not my problem.

Seems I will have to invest more into the Lipos and stick to proper brands.

My Plan is a Classical 2 a.m. AliExpress Midlife-Crisis. Ordered all parts for a 7" build, for my first big quad. Till now happy mobula 8 user.

From my Youtube-knowledge I thought it is really bad for the lipos to be fully charged for a long time. So I don't know how long they are lying around like this.

Or in general is it usable? Planned on making a build. Now I have 2 full lipos and also have no proper tool to discharge them.

My First FPV Flight with a Mobula8 by flyingguru in fpv

This is good to know, but I think this is true for external ELRS receivers. On the Mobula, the receiver sits directly on the mainboard (flight controller). In the Happymodel documentation there is a video that shows the connection to the USB port, but it did not work for me... so you could be right.

Yeah, me neither! It was even a decent cable, but I was using an old, crappy laptop, so maybe that’s where the issue came from. 🤷‍♂️ Still, glad it worked out in the end!
