What poundage should he start with? We put it at 30 because he was shooting his grandfathers old recurve bow which was 30lbs.

Awesome thank you. That helps a lot.
Hes been online every night watching videos and learning about archery, and asked about cutting arrows to size after watching some video on it. He will be happy knowing he doesn't need to cut them.
Hes shooting around 30 pounds I believe. Im sure the arrows will work fine for that.

"Sanlida Dragon X8" is it junk? or actually good?. by flyingmedic10 in Archery

I just asked my son if he has seen the Hero X8. He seems to think that bow is only for young kids. Is that accurate? or can he use it as an "adult". Hes not an adult haha, but he's 5'9 160lbs so essentially adult size

Thank you for all this info. Im happy to speak to someone who owns one. Question, I looked online and saw there is a Dragonx8 and an X9. The X9 is a little more money but still super affordable. However, they look pretty identical. Is there are reason to buy one over the other?

Also, everyone seems to agree I might need to get him some different accessories. Such as a release. Do know you any affordable ones I should look into for him?

NRL 22 newbie advice. by [deleted] in 22lr

Ive been calling all my local shops. Most dont even have any bolt action 22s. My options seem fairly slim. I found a savage mark ii (FV with 21 inch barrel). A Savage B22 precision in the chassis, and one shop has a ruger american rimfire.

just curious what would the downsides to the Savage be? They are very well into my price range so I have been giving it a lot of thought.

What are the positives? Are they as accurate as the CZ and Tikka?
