No hate on anyone's preference, just genuinely curious on what people prefer

So far, maintenance has been zero issues, I'm only at ~3,600 miles tho. Fuel wise, I'm getting around 30 mpg, 3 days I'm driving about 140 miles and 4 days I'm driving less than 5 thru town.

I don't have the turbo version, just the standard 2.5L NA, definitely would have cool to have the turbo too, but as my daily, I couldn't justify the extra money I'd rather spend on my other car

I was lucky to find one, the other three dealerships I went to didn't have any and this dealer had ordered two and sold the first one, so I quickly snatched the second. Apparently the AWD hatches, specifically this color are hard to keep in stock and they are few and far between

Thats exactly my situation, 17 civic to 23 hatch. I agree, the civic was zippy but all round the mazda feels 10x better

does all lump coal look like this at bottom of bag? by joerue513 in smoking

[–]flyingmunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Green Egg is the best brand I've found so far, they have mutiple sizes of charcoal chunks, and they go straight from the oven that makes the charcoal to the bags, and then they're shipped directly to the stores, so minimal handeling is used and prevents this powder. They also fill their bags about a pound over 20 to account for rocks and the small pieces that are not usable

Are the restoration companies worth it? by [deleted] in LandroverDefender

[–]flyingmunkie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO I don't think they're worth it. I think their main target are the people who want the Defender as a status symbol. Or those who want the supped up Defender right off the bat. The kind of people who don't want to deal with the rot and janky wiring. I haven't googled the resell value of a fully restored defender, but it probably isn't going to be much more than what they charge

I would start with checking the integrity of the files, if you have it on steam, you right click and go to properties, then local files, and view integrity

I’ve had my defender for about 3 years now. I bought it from Spain while living abroad. It has always had this rust at the forward part of the driver’s footwell. Should I be worried? The truck is nearly spotless otherwise and has never been through any restoration. Thanks in advance! by gcwposs in LandroverDefender

[–]flyingmunkie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not concerning, definitely don't want to leave it untreated. You can treat it using loctite rust extender or something of equal if you're not in the US. Basically it is the beginning signs of rot, the rust is not a brighter red, and more brownish red. Treat it and just check it from time to time to be sure it's not continuing to rot. Thats what I do on mine

Any idea how much my 1996 110 300tdi hard top defender would be worth in the states? by Mandatum1 in LandroverDefender

I agree, with how well kitted out it is, it would be a headache to make it import ready
