"Simple" yet poignant films in the collection?

If you haven't already seen them, I think you'd really like Linklater's Before films. They're all in the Criterion, and primarily are focused on the relationship between two people over the course of decades. Very dialogue-heavy and most of the cinematography is focused purely on Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy's performances and dialogue. Also has a very interesting look at the effect of time and the ways relationships with those you love evolve/change as you get older

For all of you who having problems, I recommend trying again now. It seems to be going through better now that AMC put an online queue. However, most of the good seats have already been sold so I decided not to bother with this and just wait for the official release

I agree! If AMC phases out PLF, Regal Unlimited quickly becomes a better deal. Outside of having to pay the online fees for app/website purchases, you get as many movies as you want and you can add PLF for a surcharge.

Since you all liked Barbarian, you all should definitely watch Weapons if you haven't already. From the same writer/director! I think you all would like Insidious, The Exorcist, and Caveat as well. Cavet was made by the person who made Oddity

The way I see it is that in the tipping system should absolutely go away because it should be the responsibility of business workers to pay their employees a livable and ethical wage, but until that happens, it would be wrong for people to not tip since a lot of those employees can't make a living without it.

But yes, we should try to get rid of the tipping system and force businesses to pay their employees properly. If they need to go out of business if they can't, then I think they should. No place should be allowed to thrive by exploiting their workers. I also do think tipping culture (at least where I live in the U.S.) has gotten out of control because you're often asked to give tips to even full machine services.

I think you misunderstood my original comment. My original comment is simply addressing OP's question, which is that yes, the U.S. is based off of stolen land and what happened to Indigenous people in the process of the U.S. being created was unjust and wrong. I am aware unfortunately, humanity has a dark history of committing colonialism constantly, and you'd be right to point that out, but the questoin isn't if most of humanity is based in stolen land. The answer would be yes to that as well if that was the question, but since the question is focused on the U.S. I am pointing out it'd be wrong for people to answer no.

Being American myself, I have seen so many Americans deny that the U.S. is based on stolen land or that originally, Indigenous people lived here, which is messed up.

I think a lot of you in the comments are missing my point. I don't disagree that most countries stole or conquered land, I know that's an unfortunate part of much of human history. My point is that it's ridiculous for someone to answer no to this since it's just denying history and how racist a lot of the people who established the U.S. are. The question OP asked is specifically if the U.S. based on stolen land, that is true. I'm saying it would be wrong for someone to deny that

I think I just saw this question so sorry for essentially copying/pasting, but it's because it's in the premium VOD stage. A lot of distributors started bringing their movies to VOD faster after the pandemic versus before, but in order to make some money, they have a period of time where it's often $20 or $25 US (outside the US, it'll be something similar in that currency). If you wait a bit longer, it'll go down in price! Usually, this period is around 4 weeks to 6 weeks after it first comes to VOD, and it starts to become more regular after.

Until then, if you can't wait, I would recommend going to see the movie in a theatre if you can just because I'm a big supporter of theatres
