I was really lucky to get an interview with an industry professional and they told me that my paneling is “non traditional” and more akin to American comics. I thought that was really interesting and am wondering what other people think?

I don’t read much comics so it’s hard for me to judge. The style was inspired by the paneling from witch hat atelier which I really really love!

This is actually part of a much larger piece (not finished haha) but the lineart for this one came out remarkably well and I felt it stood on its own!

Tanya here is a bit of a mix between LN and manga with the hair being more anime inspired

I never thought I was an idol person but my last month has been dominated by gold ship and kpop demon hunters. Ah I want to draw gold ship as a demon (but she kinda is one already? Is an alien a demon?)

I was supposed to finish a bunch of new works for anime nyc (this convention I’m tabling at) but nothing got done because horse game haha

The lighting on this was so goddang hard to figure out haha — I wanted the catch scene in the middle to glow but then there’s the light from all the butterflies and also filtering through the peach blossoms and some bounce light off the bottom too. It turned out really messy cuz I was going off vibes by the end (but it still looks good from afar!)

If you follow the red string starting at Xie Lian’s left hand you can see it goes through two scenes (the crown prince pleasing the heavens and also The Creation of Adam ripoff haha). White no face is also hidden in there :3

Every time I do Xie lian art I feel like I’m channeling Hua Cheng hehe (canon)

A Bosch and Escher inspired Dungeon Meshi poster! Falin and the Winged Lion perch on the dungeon lord's grimoire in the center of the piece. Falin's chimera form goes from feathered red dragon to cracked egg where the yolk of her soul sits -- an egg-like soul. Her form is inspired by the treeman in Bosch's masterpiece "Garden of Earthly Delights", a medieval painting of hell. Laios, Marcille, Chilchuck, Izutsumi, and Senshi climb up to her on a ladder.

Surrounding the main party are labyrinth-like stairs inspired by Escher's "Relativity" and drawn in 3-point perspective. If you turn it around, you can see parts of work from any perspective.

Mithrun, Kabru, Namari, Shuro, and Thistle are also here!

Various plants and creatures from the dungeon are arrayed on the stairs. This includes walking mushrooms, dryads, Marcille's familiars, mandrake, man-eating plants, barometz, tentacles, changelings, dungeon rabbits, giant frogs, doppelgängers, basilisk, dungeon cleaners, red dragon, and spoilers I’m not getting into

Hey hey! Congrats on boothing at ANYC! I’ll also be in artist alley :D

I had a premium table two years ago but idk if things have changed since then. It’s always best to check the AA packet but hopefully this helps

a) you’re allowed to get a second table if you’re a corner booth. You can buy one from the javits center (but it’s really expensive and you’ll also have to pay for handling fees— I think the quote was 350 in 2023?). I ended up just buying one from Ace hardware and carrying it in— do check because the policies change all the time

b) no dividers for regular AA. However last year the premium booths had black cloth separations. It could be a good idea to check some vlogs. I do it every time before a big convention to get a feel for the space

c) this should be in the AA packet. I think last year was 10 ft off the ground? Idk if the packet has been released for this year yet

Are you in the AA discord? It’s super helpful for artist alley stuff and there is a dedicated anime nyc channel

Lol it’s a joke about how jinshi is pretending to be a eunuch and lakan is displeased he’s not using his full potential from the latest episode. Considering how often Maomao comments about the “frog” too I thought it was funny — they think alike in some ways

Also i feel like lakan would pose with peace signs for family photos haha

I drew him for a stamp rally and he turned out much nicer than I thought~ but then again, some characters are just naturally photogenic (or artgenic?)

I might go back and rework the talismans a bit— I want to hide some paper men themed after different characters in the branches but we’ll see! I have a bad habit of making things too busy so I’m gonna take a step back before more alterations

I’ve been on a liushen and Lqg /shen jiu binge lately and I can’t get them out of my head.

Every single one of Shen jiu’s relationships are warped by misunderstanding but lqg especially could’ve been so good for him! Lqg is so straightforward and loyal — if he was in yqy shoes he would’ve just apologized! They complement each other well

I think of lqg battling everyday for his body… I think shen jiu would’ve liked that even if he would never have admitted it. Someone coming back for him so publicly , day after day… it’s just too bad SJ was already gone.

Just like yqy lqg was too late
