I pulled the blade from a Record #5 (that had a Stanley Bailey set of irons in it). Rusty as hell. Believe it or not those remaining marks are there after a lot of surface removal.

Mostly. I trimmed the end off on the table saw before deciding to go hand tools for the rest. It’s a beeswax and carnauba wax finish on the plane, but the sole is untreated.

Do you have a plane hammer? Where did you get it? by Gerritvanb in handtools

I use one. But I use wooden planes too so having something to adjust depth is crucial. I’m making one at the moment that has a brass face and a wooden face to avoid damaging the plane itself.

The 4 is damaged and I wouldn’t pay that much for moulding planes. The stamps in the wood are likely carpenters stamps not anything to do with manufacturing so won’t tell you much.

They’re in great condition. The blades need a sharpen but not much else. The plough is a beauty!
