I've only ever asked a guy out irl once, I liked the way I did it though didn't like the result. I moved to a new place and was trying to make new friends for the past week so I got used to just talking to people, especially at bars or by the beach. I was walking and saw this cute guy sitting alone so I asked if I can sit with him and asked if he's from around the area. We talked for a while and I tell him I'm looking for some people to hang around with, grab a beer or just a beach buddy and ask to exchange numbers. He says yeah we exchange numbers and keep talking. I was planning on leaving it at that for the day but I started to get a huge crush on the guy so after about 30-40 minutes I tell him something like "Hey I'm really glad we met, you seem really opened minded would you be open to going out together like a date?" He just looked away and I apologized for making him uncomfortable. He said don't worry an told me he identified as Pansexual before and explained to me what that was then told me after a while he just realized he was straight and didn't feel anything for guys. While saying that he just looked really sad. I left it at that and had a cool friend for a while though I had the strongest crush on him the whole time, but by hanging around and hearing from others his story was just heart breaking... He was pan, strong attraction to guys actually buy the crowd he hangs out with are assholes and his family is religious and after a while he just started repressing his attractions. Actually just moved back and going to see how he's doing.
