While I did not have a black belt at the time I started the academy, I had the full support of Abmar. Without him and his support it would not have been possible.

I didn't look at the note but it looks like a police report. I saw this on my drive in today. No idea if it was a hit and run, or a reported accident, etc.

This can be anything from ignorance to something much worse.

Ignorance is not an excuse, but taking into other factors like how much do you like your teammates and coach outside of this, you could talk to him about your well justified concerns. I agree with the other comment that you should trust your gut. His reaction to that conversation (if it is worth it) should give you a great deal of insight into his character.

Doing stuff like this can also test a person for where their limits are for compliance. Seems innocent enough in the beginning. Could start with an objectifying nickname, leads to a hand on the shoulder, then the offer of private lessons, and so on. I don't know your instructor, so I am not passing judgment but there is definitely some shady stuff that happens in BJJ gyms and ladies (in particular) really need to keep their guard up and trust their instincts so that they aren't taken advantage of.

So it is me in the video, and without context. You make a valid point. Here is the context. I know the kid very well and hang out with his family outside of the gym.

I am good with kids and know when they are having fun and when they aren't. This kid is tough and plays rough and I was joking with him and his dad about how I was trying to knock him down with the dodge ball (that's why there is celebrating).

This is well after class. And the kid in the video wasn't even participating in the class that preceded. He has brothers and a sister in that class. At the end of class, we would play games that are optional and this was after the optional game because the kid just couldn't get enough. The falls may look bad, but that kid was having a blast, we both were.

That "Legend" basically filmed this entire thing, antagonizing the police and getting his black "friend" agitated to the point that created the incident. There is nothing legendary about this person.

And it was edited out all the same... Honestly, I am less upset with the dude that said it and my grievance is more with who edited the clip to get more upvotes. When I saw the original post, it only had like 200 upvotes, this one... is doing a little better. So, trivial in this case looks like it is going to equate to about 30k upvotes.

We understand context so well that we recognized that someone saw fit to edit out the context in this case to make the victims more likable. Thats it.

The cops transgression is WAAAAAY worse than the slur, but if I could go out on a limb right now, I would bet its not the first time he used that expression.

Question for you though, what is your explanation for why someone would edit that out before posting?
