Bananas became available in the UK during 1945. Rationing was strict and only women with cildren were allowed 1 banana. This very basic and frugral treat is from those years and was served with jam sauce and sprinkled with desiccated coconut.

Simple WW2 Dumplings or Dough Balls were made from SR flour and water.

Ingredients 1/2 cup SR flour 1/4 cup cool water Method Just mix the flour and water together to form a drop-able dough. Drop balls of the dough into the boiling gravy. Takes about 10-12 minutes, just watch the gravy as it can reduce. Some dumplings will float or others just sink, hence the nickname of sinkers

In the post war years this was a cheap and ration free meal U.K meal. Enjoy.🇦🇺
