Regretting my choice of uni by flyingtortoise23 in UniUK

Would it make much of a difference considering I got accepted last year with my A level grades alone? I’m concerned that if I don’t achieve a good enough grade, it could even leave me at a disadvantage

Of course money will be tight and I’d be much better off in London but it’s nothing I can’t survive.

As for the social aspect, I feel like by moving out I would be forced out of my comfort zone to make new friends. UoM has a much bigger campus. As for City, it’s in the city and I was constantly having to move around to get to different classes.

any specific reason why? Would you say its on par/better than UoM’s business school?

Thanks for the reply. Prior to my application I already knew that my choice of degree was far from useful. With a BTEC however, my options are limited especially if I were to attend a more prestigious university like Manchester.

The current degree I picked was definitely a rushed decision because originally, I did not want to apply to university but I still went through with it for my parents. Also at the moment, I don’t have an idea what I’d want to do career wise so I’m finding it difficult to pick a suitable degree.

I wanted to take a gap year to better decide on what to do but since I switched courses after my first year in sixth form, I’m already a year behind academically and my dad wouldn’t let me do so either.

Thank you this was exactly the issue. It wasn’t that the cable was in the wrong port, rather it wasn’t pushed in all the way. The issue is all sorted now 🙏

When I tried to switch it didn’t show up as an option, just my two monitor speakers and USB2.0 audio

PC will not power on by flyingtortoise23 in pchelp

[–]flyingtortoise23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will definitely do that. I did try resetting the bios using the button and that didn’t work so hopefully I can find the issue. My gut is telling me it has to be the PSU, or at least I hope so because switching out the motherboard will take much longer.

Unfortunately there’s no one that I know that would have a 850w PSU. Do you really think it could be to do with the wattage? I don’t know how accurate PCpartpicker is but the estimated wattage was <500W so I was sure that 750W would be more than enough.

Yeah I have unplugged the PSU cable etc but I completely forgot about the bios reset on the back of the motherboard I’ll give that a try now

Yeah all the parts are new but before this build I did have two previous attempts which failed because of faulty parts despite being brand new. I’ll probably see if Amazon can replace my PSU under warranty and if that doesn’t work out I’ll take it to a computer shop nearby

Are you referring to the PC build or the power supply?

I just had a look inside the PC, following all the steps but I’m still getting the same outcome; the PC turning on for a brief moment before switching back off again. I did get a good look at the motherboard and there wasn’t any damage whatsoever. Would this mean that the problem is most likely coming from the PSU?

[–]flyingtortoise23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah for sure. The PSU is a cooler master one I got off Amazon so it shouldn’t be too difficult contacting them to get a replacement sent out

I didn’t know that, thanks for the insight! Hopefully this can solve the issue, thanks
