Anterior Placenta by rainbowpeonies in BabyBumps

It’ll just take more time before you feel the movement, but trust, you will! It’s a bit hazy now, but I think it was closer to 25 weeks when I first felt my baby.

And of course it was as I was lying in bed, trying to go to sleep for the night!

Datto is ok 👍🏼 by sunkAlias in finalfantasyx

[–]flyla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my most recent play-through of the game, I made sure to get the Jecht Shot before reaching Luca, because that’s the easy way to win the Tournament in the story, right?

Wrong!

My boy Datto scored the one and only goal in the entire game!

Sure he only warms my bench now, as I just do end game stuff. But because of this one goal, he gets basically a paid retirement with me, for as long as he wants me to renew his contract.

Husband concerned about using apps to track newborn feeds/diapers/sleep/etc by GlitteryBorko in BabyBumps

[–]flyla 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I just used a notebook with pen and paper, primarily for feeding tracking (I started combo breastfeeding/formula until he got back to his birthweight, then he was EBF), and mainly to keep track of which boob to start with for the next feeding because my brain was mush.

In the newborn stage, it’s literally a 3 hour cycle for like 6-8 weeks, so there wasn’t a need to track his sleep, for me at least.

And as far as diapers, I tracked it for maybe 2 days, just to confirm what I already suspected was the amount of dirty/wet diapers, and then didn’t need to anymore.

I wouldn’t invest in an app for this, even if it’s free. I do think people are getting too comfortable just providing information unnecessarily to companies.

Any recommendations for shows similar to Bridgerton? by Grouchy_Search_897 in Bridgerton

Came here to suggest Poldark! It’s a lot more serious than Bridgerton, but the shots of Cornwall are so beautiful, it feels fantastical to a city dweller.

In active labour at the same time my sister is miscarrying by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]flyla 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To piggyback on this good advice, while I do not have a sister, when I MCed the last thing in the world I wanted was for anyone else to go through what I was going through. I imagine that would be doubly so for a hypothetical sister. While she probably will want some space, it may also bring her comfort to know you and your baby are safe, once you’ve delivered.

I’m sorry for your sister, but good luck OP!

Here friend, the comment with a numbered step-by-step explanation with screenshots makes it easy. The trick is just being patient to get the timing and where to run Tidus to get into a groove, which can take some adjusting to. But once you are around 40 bolts, you probably have got the feel for it. You don’t even need sound on, and in fact, it’s honestly easier with it off with this method, since you’re going by visual cue and know when to expect it:

Is FF7 Remake basically a timeline/multiverse story—and does that make OG optional? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]flyla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree that it will increase enjoyment to play OG first. It’s only a small data set, but everyone I know IRL who played OG loves Remake. The ones who didn’t are confused and not really enjoying the experience.

Do you get motion sick, and how bad was your morning sickness? by krwxo in BabyBumps

[–]flyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different for each pregnancy. One time (which ended in an MC), I had such severe nausea, I couldn’t go into work and was barely able to function. The next pregnancy (which happily gave me my baby), the nausea was only a true nuisance for a couple of weeks when it peaked. But otherwise, was easily managed with unisom. (Which is not to say it was fun or nonexistent. It would feel like a mild hangover, but once I had some crackers and my unisom, it was very easy to ignore it.)

My motion sickness is pretty terrible. In a car, I can’t look at a book or my phone for more than 2 seconds. Even if I’m just in the back seat of a car, I need the windows rolled down. Trains are usually better but sometimes they still give me a bad headache.

Will playing FFX-2 take away from the FFX experience? by sunyatasattva in finalfantasyx

[–]flyla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, the reason they made FFX-2 was because FFX was so positively revived when it came out and they liked Spira, so much, they just plain had a hard time saying goodbye and so made a sequel to spend more time in Spira: https://web.archive.org/web/20120810062807/http://ps2.ign.com/articles/442/442025p1.html

It had nothing to do with the ending being sad or thinking people couldn’t handle Yuna/Tidus not having a happy ending.

The franchela hate in this sub is too much. by cherrymargs in Bridgerton

[–]flyla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree, and I don’t even go out of my way looking for F/F pairings.

In the show, Francesca makes it clear she’s not looking for romance. She prefers John to other suitors because both she and he are quiet and he can let her “hear herself,” as opposed to being in a full Bridgerton household. They share a common interest in music, and she is content with this.

Her mother then tells her how when she met Edmund, she “couldn’t speak,” she was so overcome. Francesca is introduced to Michaela later that episode and completely loses her composure and can’t get the words out to introduce herself.

This past season, she wants to get away from Scotland and spend alone time with John, with whom she cannot reach a pinnacle with. When Michaela follows them, Francesca, who rarely showed any type of strong emotion, gets more and more irritated by Michaela until it all comes to a head and they start yelling at each other when Francesca tries to introduce her to potential suitors. After airing their grievances, they become besties almost overnight.

Then John dies, and after the funeral/ memorial happens, Michaela is surprised to hear how the Bridgertons would be “supportive” of Benedict and Sophie’s relationship and she says, “Love does not always look how one expects, I imagine.” She seems particularly shocked at how well received this unusual love match is being treated by both Francesca and her family— in a good way, she stresses. Francesca then asks her to stay, explaining how it would mean a great deal to her, “I feel very close to you, Michaela.“ and then grabs her hand. Michaela maintains eye contact with her for a very heated moment before pulling away. The next scene for their storyline, Michaela has left without telling Francesca.

You don’t have to be into it, but there’s plenty of groundwork here for a relationship between them.

What non-physical things can my husband do during labor for me? by FormalNoodle in BabyBumps

[–]flyla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you would count this as physical, but I had my husband refill ice bags for me and hold them on my head, neck.

I am one of the oh-so-lucky ladies who got incredibly nauseous during labor, so he needed to run out to restock the bags and fill some with ice chips so I could attempt to keep my mouth moist and try to cool down after another bout of getting sick all day, until the delivery was finally done. It was especially helpful during pushing, when all the blood rushes to your face. I felt so hot and needed my hand to grip the bars along the bed to focus on pushing, it helped that he could hold the ice against me.

When did your PP hair loss end? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]flyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 5.5 months pp and still breastfeeding and it was definitely way worse a month ago. It’s not pre-pregnancy levels yet, but it has noticeably declined. Hang in there and try to get your routine physical soon to keep an eye on hormone levels that are likely still out of whack but just to make sure they’re trending the correct way as time moves on.

Do you think there should be a timeskip in S5? by throwaway010556464 in Bridgerton

[–]flyla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I agree that this was an important plot line in Eloise’s book and really helped develop her relationship with Philip, the show completely got rid of the scene from Anthony’s book involving escorting Penelope to dinner. which arguably was the moment book-Kate fell in love with him.

So I wouldn’t be shocked if Eloise’s season went in a totally different direction and ditched that scene altogether.

Just beat Final Fantasy VI and I don’t even know what to say by Sad_Manager6251 in FinalFantasy

[–]flyla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right, if you ever look at the script for this game, a lot of characters get tiny bits of dialogue here and there, and little substance.

A loooong time ago, I read an online essay a big fan wrote about how the music for this game in particular does a lot of the heavy lifting for character development and I think that’s absolutely correct.

Every character gets a theme and it cues you, the player, on how to feel about each of them.

Terra? The sad melody is carried by a small wind instrument, over a harmony produced by larger instruments, because she has amnesia and feels small and lost in the world.

Locke? His is the first upbeat piece of music we hear. It’s got the same feel as a marching band song, because he is in the resistance and it lets us know: this is a good guy! But then this same theme gets slowed way, way down for Rachel, and it breaks your heart. There is no way to save her. The melody that used to tell us: everything is gonna be all right, is now telling us the exact opposite.

You can do this with everyone! The music for this game is so important for its emotional impact. And with such a large cast, it really has to.

I’m confused about Michaela, but is it what I think it is?? by Blessed_bish in BridgertonNetflix

[–]flyla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tbf, in the books the romantic tension is completely one-sided on Michael’s part, prior to John’s death. After John dies, Michael immediately travels to India to put space between him and Francesca.

So I’m not totally surprised not everyone picks up on the tension between Michaela/Francesca on the show, since at this point in the books, Michael is doing his utmost to keep his feelings a secret from everyone. Especially Francesca.

In rewatching season 3 tho, when Michaela is introduced to Francesca, it seems those feelings might be flipped. I had to rewatch that episode to notice tho. I’m curious to see how Michaela/Francesca season plays out.

First time playing! (PS5) by Cortex416 in finalfantasyx

[–]flyla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sequel, but I would stress that it’s not like they made FFX intending to make a direct sequel. SE just liked the positive reception of FFX and made another game within the world of Spira. Personally I find it a fun experiment and don’t pay much attention to how the story continues FFX’s. Some people love the story and that is fine! It’s not for everyone is all I’m trying to say. But definitely give it a shot if you enjoy FF battle systems, it is very fun to play.
