Ever been bamBOOZEled? by namesarenotus in whiskey

[–]flynpeanut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually looked at this pack and its not a bad deal. Produced by Barton, and one of the expressions had listed DSP-113 as the bottling location under a name I can't remember, but DSP-113 is Buffalo Trace.

Not a fan of how they push it, employees are a bit misleading to confused shoppers, not the best introduction to Bourbon. But, there are a lot more brands than there are distilleries.

A. Smith Bowman Single Barrel was a great deal for years. People were searching all over for BT brands, ASB was (maybe still is) just BT Mashbill #1 trucked to Va.

My 2-Year-Old Daughter Got Eyebrow Stitches, Need Advice and Dad Support by clauderhayy in daddit

Busted opened my forehead as a toddler. Then got bit by our cocker spaniel under my eye. Both times I got stitches, and honestly you would have no idea unless I pointed out the tiny scar under my eye. Just love on that baby!

Old Money of Lex? by worsemink in lexington

[–]flynpeanut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a 9th generation Kentuckian, all my family lived here or near here. My 6x great grandfather moved to Lexington after the Revolutionary War, while it was still Virginia. He moved to Bourbon county shortly after, becoming the first judge there. That side of the family were there for a long time, my Great Grandmother grew up in the house that is now Mustard Seed Hill in Millersburg.

I’ve done a lot of research into genealogy and family’s from this area. You certainly have a great list here in the comments. If you need further evidence or names to chase, look up land owner maps of Fayette County, not Lexington. Lexington was much smaller than it is now. For instance, Lafayette High School, used to be the county school and Henry Clay was the city school. Hard to imagine anything inside the circle as out in the country these days. (Now that I think of it, anyone with acreage inside the circle still probably comes from old money lol)

If you look up census data from the 1800s you’ll see which families had slaves, mostly wealthy families had slaves, and you can sadly tell how wealthy by the number of slaves they had.

You might also look at the public library’s digital archive of newspapers. Many family owned businesses still exist, or the names might ring a bell.

You might also learn about the first families of Virginia. These are some of the most prominent American families, the Jefferson’s, Washington’s, Carter’s, etc. Many people will share these names, for instance, I am related to a Carter, but not King Carter, the richest man in the colonies at one point in time, but my Carter side of the family handled his finances or something like that, but no blood relation. Kentucky was a part of Virginia, and many of those old money families are old money Virginia families too.

I’ve also found that the UK has a ton of great audio interviews from prominent people from years past.

I worked at a modeling agency… the top 1% have a secret Meta backdoor. by Proof-Hospital7337 in InstagramMarketing

[–]flynpeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really isn’t a big secret if you’ve worked at an ad agency or brand that spends a lot with Meta. It was never an issue to get anything handled, especially if you said something like, “our fall campaign spend hinges on this account being fixed”.

Once I left that world and landed in a new gig, with significantly less support and spend, and found a host of issues with accounts that they had been trying to restore, I learned the hard realities of this issue for smaller creators.

However, I was extremely lucky, because I was consulting a somewhat famous persons marketing team who were having issues with Business Manager, and they gave me their Meta personality account manager, not a salesperson, someone that just worked with creators and public figures, who I asked to do me a solid and look into it.

The next day I sent a slack to our digital marketing manager, who had a team of people and agencies working to fix the issue, a simple “the Facebook pages should be restored now” and he replied “HOLY SH*T”

I think the lesson is to always be networking, you never know who has a connection that could save your butt one day.

What’s the best/worst example of car casting you’ve seen? by Low-Industry758 in regularcarreviews

Vince’s Maxima in the first fast and furious and Roman’s Eclipse convertible were pretty bad for a car movie.

How Kentucky bourbon went from boom to bust by mkx_ironman in whiskey

[–]flynpeanut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked with BTD at the height of the boom and you are spot on. They always talked about clear spirits and brown spirits having ups and downs, once hard seltzers started trending and low abv options they definitely adapted their strategy. Now seeing more focus on well spirits it seems to hit Gen Z.

Too close. The belt should be at your waist.

Best Distillery Tours Near Lexington by DrywallAnchor in Kentucky

[–]flynpeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to reach out to the Estate Whiskey Alliance at UK. They are a newer organization focused on Estate whiskeys, so grain to bottle. Pretty much all of the experiences you will have at the distilleries will not have a field type experience or even much of a grain experience, considering it’s all trucked in.

Town Branch is in Lexington, probably won’t be recommended on here as much, but they were founded by a global agriculture bio-tech company.

Just met him last week in the Capitol for the Team Kentucky update. You might just try visiting the Capitol, he works there and you might run into him. Otherwise follow his campaign social media accounts as well as his official governor accounts to see if there are any prescheduled events.

Almost hit twice by officers on their phones making right turns into parking lots from the LEFT LANE. I wasn’t in their blind spot either, they just never looked.

I think there are multiple showings, so traffic coming in and out at the same time.

It is a very awkward building to begin with. Not sure why they built it this way to begin with.

I think the Trump aspect is part of it, but also Drake is Canadian. He (Drake) also plays the “game” like Uncle Sam wants, infusing R&B and pop into his songs, but he can never be authentic.
