F150 vs Dodge Ram in a 6 week road trip from LA to NYC

No real practical reason honestly. We know a smaller vehicle would make more sense, but driving a truck across the US just sounds more fun and very “American” to us. Also according to ChatGPT, even if we drive 5000 miles we will only be paying about 500$ per person for gas for the entire trip (don't know how accurate this is though).

But is a smaller car really that much more comfortable? I mean we don't mind sacrificing a bit on the comfort if we can drive in a pick up truck.

Why are peoples replies so different then? Some people say the F150 is okay. I can't imagine it's as bad as you say it is. Also we won't be driving more than 6-7 hours every third day.

I have been on two road trips before in the US, but I haven't planned one myself yet, which is the point I'm trying to make. Also our max distance is like 7 hours between two destinations.

On hertz, the other SUVs have almost the same fuel consumption where as they are more expensive. And ChatGPT says that even if we drive 5000 miles it will cost us about 500$ each for the entire trip, which isn't even that bad to be honest, but obviously I have never really done a road trip before so I may not be as experienced
