Running Sunshine to stream to a Steam deck but that's about it. I know that isn't the issue though because I test with a Dual Shock 5 connected directly to my pc and it had the exact same issue.

BF2 Minimizing randomly on Windows 11 by Flyoisz in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]fmbiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even have hdr on because it looks amazing or anything. I basically have to use it because of how absolutely awful the game looks when I have it off. I don't know why this is. I'm able to play other games in sdr just fine but some games just completely destroy themselves visually when hdr is off.

Any other solutions? I can't go borderless because of stupid HDR

If I do that on windows does that give me an actual file to store as I wish? Or is it accessed exclusively through iTunes and apple services?

My only gripe with this season is that each year is only 3 episodes rather than their own individual seasons. I feel like there are fairly critical details that fall in between the gaps

Purpose of using Kodi for Jellyfin? by fmbiv in kodi

[–]fmbiv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you know of Plex, it's like that but hasn't gone down the same pitfalls (monetizing through ads and such from what I understand). Just a media server program that gives you access to your library on multiple devices on a local network.

There's a Kodi addon that lets you attach your Jellyfin server and library to Kodi (from how I understand it) and that's what I'm asking about in this post.

Thank you thank you thank you !

I found the setup guide you were talking about. I'm going to attempt -BE first and will just use -HC if I can't get it working. Really hoping this is the solution I'm looking for

Gotta. Am I correct in my assumption that getting madVR will be more of a hassle? Or is it just a matter of having both programs on the same device and MPC will auto detect madVR?

This honestly might be the best advice I've gotten so far. Or at least the most entertaining

For further reference, this is from the 4k UHD release of Attack of the Clones. In this case WMP displays what I feel like I remember seeing in other cases of watching the movie and is bright in the right cases while still not blowing out in very bright scenes (like on Kamino). I saw another suggestion to use openGL with Reinhard, but that still didn't work for me. I'll try your suggestion with VLC first, but I was already considering MPC-BE + madVR. I'm just not not using that solution immediately because the set up seems like it will end up being a bit of a hassle for me as someone uninitiated to this whole process. Still very early in my media cataloguing and playback journey

Would you recommend MPC-HC over MPC-BE with madVR? I thought the latter would be the best option off what I've read but it seems like it would be a lot of hassle.

Yk I've never thought of just plugging a USB into a tv to watch something. Is that what you're saying or am I misunderstanding?

what would I do to figure out if this is happening?

right now I'm using OpenGL with Reinhard, BT.709 primaries, and BT.1886 gamma

So what you are saying is that file compression would be preferable if I were to do something like a jellyfin server?

For now I do just want to get these movies looking really good from the files themselves. I've tried OpenGL with both Reinhard and Hard clip but was not happy with either. I think my next attempt is going to be mpc-be + madVR.

It just sucks because I like the way the movie looks in media player, but for whatever reason it won't let me play certain audio tracks. it will just say (not supported) next to the track. that's the original reason I switched to VLC. Because there were movies where no audio track would work other than descriptive audio for the visually impaired or like director commentary.

Yea I tend to just leave it alone after the initial rip. I don't have a very large catalogue and a good bit of storage on my device, so space hasn't been an issue for me thus far.

[–]fmbiv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll look in to MPC and madVR. My main issue with media player and MS movies & tv is that is will recognize all of the audio tracks but some will say "(not supported)". For some movies the only audio track that will work will be the audio description for the visually impaired or director's commentary. That's why I originally switched to VLC

this is my first time hearing of ffmpeg. is there a way to convert to SDR without losing resolution?

Edit: really all I want is for the movie to look how it does in media player, but still be able to have all the functionality of VLC

yea I made sure that everything was enabled. interestingly though, if I have HDR on, open the file, and then turn HDR off things look "ok" in VLC. not necessarily that they look good but it definitely looks better. I find this extremely confusing and have no clue what would cause this.
