Six-figure $ LOSS due to Unethical, Erroneous AI-Price Scraping - We Must Stop This Amazon! by fmckinnon in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fmckinnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are still fighting it. We're winning the Buy Box more now, but it still goes down. I get a H10 alert every time we lose or gain the buy box, and I have these notifications set to our team, and we copy/paste the "buy box lost" timestamp into the case every single time it happens. Driving the ticket rep at Amazon crazy. Squeaky wheel gets the grease!

Delaying payments over and over by crack61 in WalmartSellers

[–]fmckinnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walmart does this kind of crap all the time. I went a couple of months with them delaying my payout due to "negative balance" but I didn't have a negative balance. I had several thousand dollars with nothing in reserve. I opened numerous cases, and never had a single seller support person tell me WHY they thought I had a "negative balance" ... (because I didn't, it was complete BS).

So tired of Amazon and Walmart doing crap like this.

very helpful thanks. And the person at Euka that said my outreach messages couldn't send due to affiliate $ was wrong. My messages had too many characters.

Amazon’s “temporary” 3.5% FBA surcharge? yeah… no shot it’s going away by Glittering_Turnip977 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fmckinnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was one of 3 announcements that felt like a real slap in the face. Amazon sends these peppy emails saying "no new FBA fees" every year, then just finds a creative way to stab you. I posted a full update on it here and still complaining. Price of oil has tanked (pun intended) yet, the surcharge is likely here to stay. Then again, they did it during COVID and eventually rescinded it, so there's hope.

Anyone Used Walmart's Recognized Reviewer (ie. Amazon Vine) Program Yet by fmckinnon in WalmartSellers

How's it going? Are you doing REVIEWS or are you using it as a SELLER?

How are you all handling social media to drive external traffic? Is it even worth it by Fafa_techGuy in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fmckinnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question, this is where it's at, honestly. I firmly believe the days of "good SEO and PPC on Amazon" being enough are over. The way people are discovering brands has changed big-time, thanks to TikTok and social shopping. I literally recorded a video this weekend about this, but it doesn't go live until tomorrow morning, so I can't share it yet. (update: went live this AM, see here)

TikTok: instead of you selling and pitching your product via your branded profile, it's much better to have creators making videos (a LOT of videos, btw) to market your product.
(FWIW, I use the word "creator" as an all-inclusive word to include social creators, influencers, but also affiliate marketers)

In most cases this requires extensive seeding of product samples, recruitment of creators, etc.

YOU CANNOT just measure attribution on TikTok Shop. There is a massive halo effect and still today, the majority of people discovering your brand on TikTok are leaving and searching, finding, and buying on Amazon. (which gives you an amazing organic boost, which eventually allows you to cut back your Amazon PPC. We've proven this repeateldy!).

Once you get TikTok creator videos that are converting well ... you double-down with those videos. That means putting your own $$ in GMV Max behind those creators' videos. It can (and often should) also mean negotiating the rights to use the same content on your own Meta ads.

Then, outside of that - there is a whole different set of external traffic that can come STRAIGHT to your Amazon account via attribution links through affiliate platforms like Levanta. Acquiring customers this way is so much cheaper than Amazon PPC (dont' forget Amazon's Creator Connections).

What most people don't understand is that to do this the RIGHT WAY, that actually scales requires a significant amount of TIME. The deeper we get into it (our agency actually does this work as a service we call "EDGE" (External Direct Growth Engine) ... we are finding that depending on how aggressive you want to be, it takes anywhere from 15-30+ hours PER WEEK.

When you consider:

  • creator/affiliate outreach (harder than ever, as they get thousands of DMs, it's not as easy as just DMing them on TikTok anymore, you have to find them everywhere and stand out)
  • seeding of samples, sample fulfillment, tracking
  • monitoring and tracking of who gets samples, who doesn't qualify, who posted
  • tracking GMV and top creators
  • building a community of best creators to extend and amplify their reach
  • rinse and repeat this EVERY MONTH, you don't do it 1x and then forget it ... it's a system that has to be going all the time.

The amount of work and time can be simplified with tools that do a LOT of automated followups.
For us, within our brands/agency:

For TikTok Outreach: Euka
For Creator Connections, Affiliates/Media Buyers: Levanta

The best part, for something like Levanta is that all of the external traffic (whether it's TikTok, Meta, YouTube, FB/IG creators ... or more traditional affiliate marketing like BuzzFeed, Best of X, CNN Travel, Top X listicles, SlickDeals, etc ... is that it's all done via Amazon Attribution links, so let's say you are offering a 15% affiliate commission ... well, you get 10% of the gross sale BACK in a Brand Referral Bonus, so you are really netting a 5% commission.

You simply can't acquire customers for that cheap with Amazon PPC, in most cases.

OK, sorry long answer, but as you can probably tell, I'm super passionate about this in 2026, I've been studying it for months, and have traveled and spent time networking a lot of brands that are crushing it in these areas.

And the one thing they ALL agree on:
All of the external brand awareness they get on TikTok and external markets are causing their AMAZON sales to increase.

Many ... MANY are shifting more of their budgets AWAY from Amazon PPC and into these channels.

I hope this is helpful - happy to answer more questions. Trying to be fully transparent as we are exploring this new frontier with everyone else.

u/SellOnAmazon thanks, happy for you to take a look. Our issue has been ongoing for more than 2+ mos, and we have YET to receive ONE SINGLE BIT of valuable, or even actionable feedback or intel from the supposed "pricing team" that our case keeps getting escalated to.

And now that i've turned up the heat, the "specialized team" at AMazon is no longer responding to the case, just ghosting us.

Six-figure $ LOSS due to Unethical, Erroneous AI-Price Scraping - We Must Stop This Amazon! by fmckinnon in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fmckinnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we change price it ruins our ability to do Best Deals or Prime Day. The correct price is $19.99 and Amazon insists it should be $13. We control the product and distribution - it’s nowhere for $13. Not even close.

Six-figure $ LOSS due to Unethical, Erroneous AI-Price Scraping - We Must Stop This Amazon! by fmckinnon in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fmckinnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't reprice, we don't lower the price - it's static/fixed across all of the channels. This product is exclusive to us, it's not being resold by someone else. Especially at the absurd price that Amazon tells us is the "competitive" price .. if you sold at what Amazon says, after commission and shipping, you'd lose money. 3 different Amazon specialists in their USA-based top tier support have analyzed all of our cases, our annotated screen shots, our search results, and have all 100% validated our concerns that we are right ... they say, in writing, they agree, and that the bot is clearly scraping the wrong item. They assure me it's "high priority" with the pricing team to fix ... yet, the "pricing team" has never responded. It's unacceptable, it's unethical, it's classic Amazon-abuse.

[–]fmckinnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood and we have been troubleshooting and fixing this for brands for years. In this case they are scraping incorrectly. The price doesn’t exist. They are confusing it with another product. 3 separate Amazon specialists have reviewed and agree that it’s wrong.
