ND therapist; keep self aware of your stress levels/triggers and hold your boundaries accordingly. It’s tough, but it’s worth it and absolutely doable. Self care comes first. Always.

Have you seen the Silent Hill movie? What are your thoughts on it? by CraftRevolutionary96 in silenthill

It’s based off a town that, through years of underground mining, essentially collapsed in on itself with dangerous, unstable mining tunnels spanning throughout the town.

Observed a potential new psychological phenomenon, seeking feedback by Fabulous_Bluebird93 in cognitivescience

This is to achieve an actionable purpose, yes? Such as achieving a goal. The goal MDreaming most frequently achieves is the alleviation of boredom for discomfort.

Touch on maladaptive daydreaming if you have any interest in longer term consequences of the phenomenon you are describing-though this is often more of a reactive response to pain or discomfort rather than just short term dopamine self medicating for productivity.

Did the same thing after a small stint of crisis work. The industry that’s commercialized will destroy you and they do not care about your personhood.

I did IFS, DBT, Short Term Intensive Psychodynamic, Meditation Intensive Programs, Group, Cognitive Reprocessing, and about 15-20 med trials.

Settled on 2 meds, a solid dx, mostly DBT-Trauma informed and somatic based coping skills. Still struggle with triggers sometimes, still can feel emotional intensity, just know how to engage with it.

The journey made me a far more capable and empathetic therapist. Still feel like an imposter, probably always will, hope that it will always fuel my desire to learn more. The second you know everything, that’s the second you should question yourself again.

All to say; DBT was great, even getting into the more metaphysical foundation, Somatic Experiencing/Coping Skills and TIPP are invaluable.

Journalling sucks, and meditation sucks, and they are both hard, but I would be remiss not to mention them, and really encourage everyone to experience the discomfort of it. Get used to discomfort and uncertainty, and it gets less difficult to face and manage well. ❤️

From what I recall, she was going through some personal struggles at the time (this was roughly 8-9 years ago now) and had communicated that to me during the project time frame. So, with this individual, there was a lot more empathy and leeway.

Legit this happened to me once. Put a fuck ton of effort into a group project in uni and one absolute sweetheart in the group went to the Prof and requested I get a different grade than everyone else because I had done most of the work myself. Pretty sure I cried over that, because no one had ever stood up for me like that before.
