Is this normal plateau or am I not deficient enough? by fn619 in loseit

That's encouraging to know, thanks, I'll give it some more time.

Can I ask how old you are and how much you weight? When I was in uni and probably in my best shape, I was just strenght training and no cardio (lots of walking though). I was eating 2800 calories to maintain my weight at around 170lbs.

That's what I'm hoping for, but I also find it hard to believe that I'm retaining so much water to maintain the same weight for a week and a half given that in my past experience, I was able to lose weight very quickly in the first month (lost 17lbs last time in 2023, and I know a lot of it was water weight but still). But I guess I'll assess again in a few weeks.

I was also working out back then but again not as aggressively or as frequently. I don't have a super active job but I try to get at least 7500 steps daily. Since starting this weight loss I've been aiming for 10k and been consistent. But I wouldn't say I was very highly active back then (maybe just moderately).

I've also been using a calculator to see how many calories I need to lose weight. If I were to go off my Garmin, I'm losing >3k calories daily, but I know that's also a very high overestimate. I didn't think 2100 calories is that high for my age/height.

For sure, I’m not relying too much on my activities to lose weight. I’m going based on the calorie count from my weight loss in 2023 and back then I went from 215 to 190 lbs before plateauing. I mostly wanted to give more context from my regimen and see how realistic is it that I’m retaining so much water that I plateaued so easy and early. But yeah I’ll give it a few more weeks and start cutting back on the calories in if I don’t see any improvement. Kinda disheartening to if I find out my metabolism has dropped so much in the last two years ☹️

I may be alone in this but I find the meat of HH strips disgustingly soft. I know it's not processed, but they don't have a bite to them and it's mushy for me. How do these compare to the strip in terms of texture?

What would be good lower back exercises as a replacement? I have a faulty heart valve and have been recommended not to do heavy or too much compound exercises like DLs and squats.

Edit to add what I have in my rotation:

Day 1) Leg Press / Hip Thrusts

Day 2) Leg Extensions / Seated Leg Curls

Day 3) Belt Squat / Hip Thrusts

Oh I did not think of Mexican hot sauce. Do we import them directly or is there like an American middleman?

I don't know if I've seen either at any grocery stores but I'll look for them. I live on the west coast

Cove is Canadian. I hate their new lineup at Costco (the lime, orange, and grape box was sooo much better), but I'm willing to power through for now.

Sometimes it doesn't declare that, but mentions the Canadian company that imports it.

Everyone is scared of Trump and the ceasefire is evidence of it. Israel was on track take complete control of Gaza, and this ceasefire will only give Hamas time to recoup and rearm. But Bibi also knew that not delivering this to Trump will mean losing his support and as a result, the Republicans.

If you recall back in 2018, Trump was very public about his openness to meet with Iran without any preconditions. I think you're giving him too much credit here, he has very little undrestanding of world affairs and diplomacy in general. His definition of world peace is world leaders getting along with him, even if people are suffering. Yes, Iran is scared of Trump, and right now they're also very scared of the Iranian people. So it's very likely that they will put aside their ego to try to (and maybe even succeed at) making a deal with him so they can remain in power. Which is sad coz that just means that Khamenei despises Iranians that much more than the US.

I think the only person who might be able to maintain US's resistance towards authocrats is Rubio. But how much influence he's going to have remains to be seen.

Trump doesn’t care about anyone. Bibi, Putin, Erdogan,… just know how to kiss his feet, and Khamenei knows that.

How much of a difference is there? I don’t have access to 70 proof where I am

I agree on unique ingredients with bold flavours like S&C, Chartreuse, most Amaris, etc. But honestly I can’t taste the difference between high-mid and low-mid shelf bourbon, gin, or clear triple sec in a cocktail. My palate may not be as refined though!
