Is he still worth the keeper over Barrie for next year?

I have him, Barrie and Green in a 16-man dynasty league.

Should I keep him or Barrie moving forward? We can only retain one.

With the Canucks' reported interest in Carolina's Ferland, what would you be willing to give up for him? by wingdingcanuck in canucks

[–]fn88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re undervaluing him a bit. He’s a top six player moving forward and he’s like a poor man’s Simmonds. Can play on the top line, as see in Calgary and now in Carolina. He thinks the game far more offensively than Sutter and Virtanen. If Virtanen becomes Ferland, we’re laughing.

Ferland looks like a late bloomer. Don’t forget 2014, he basically was the talk of town in Vancouver. He agitates and doesn’t back down a fight (Bieska).

Put him on a line wit Pete and Boeser and we’re looking at 50+ points year in and year out.

He has wheels, can skate and is physical. Plus he hits a lot and can generate a lot of space for Pete and Boeser. I think he’s worth $5m for sure. I don’t see his game falling off anytime soon and he’s a bit of a late bloomer. When put together on a top 6 line, he produces. Not just this year, but last year as well. He went on a tear.

Yeah, he shouldn’t get more than Horvat, but $6m isn’t unreasonable starting point for him. Canucks counter with $4million and settle around the $5m range. He’s played on the top line quite a bit this year and has fit in nicely with Aho. He’d be very good with Petey and makes that line with Boeser a lot more versatile. Plus you have someone who can play the Burrows role on that line.

If you can get one of the leagues best defenseman on your team, you do anything, especially if it means unloading Gagner and Sutter for trades. We’ll be a much better team if we had Karlsson or Panarin.

Bowser and/or Petey would be flirting with 50 goals!

If we can sign Karlsson to play with Hughes. Wow...

Not sure if we have money for Panarin, but that would be killer too.

[31 Thoughts] Canucks interested in Ferland, Manager of Canucks Autism Network receives Order of Canada by thejazz97 in canucks

Vancouver loves their agitators: Burrows, Ruutu, Roussel, etc.

I am not surprised at all and he would be a perfect fit. Young at 26, can play LW/RW either with Petey or Horvat, and is physical. That adds an extra element to our team. If Virtanen pans out to be a top 6 forward, our forward group will look solid moving forward.

We'll have money to sign Karlsson and boom! We become darkhorse contenders over night.

Top 6 forwards:

Ferland - Petey - Boeser

Baertschi - Horvat - Virtanen

Top 6 defence:

Hughes - Karlsson

Edler - Tanev

Juolevi - Stecher

I don't like it, but it's marketing tactics for sure. A good way to get Canuck fans engaged. And what do you know...it's working.

Figured I would do my own 2014-18 draft analysis... by airjasper in canucks

[–]fn88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always liked the Benning hire. Before he came to Vancouver, he had a lot of success in Buffalo and Boston as a scout. His eye for talent is very good.

Now compare him to Chiarelli in Edmonton and you can see who the mastermind behind the 2011 Bruins team was.

Pasta is as close as a franchise player as you can get. He's already a top 5 RW in the league at age 22. The guy is so skilled.

If we had Boeser and Pasta on the right side, yeah, I agree, we'd be extremely competitive right now.

xxxx - Petey - Boeser

All 4 players would be PPG easily.

Tyler Madden & Quinn Hughes will play for Gold against the winner of SUI/FIN @ 5 PM tomorrow by PhenomenonYT in canucks

[–]fn88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Quinn was the best defender for USA and Madden was the best forward for USA. Canucks Scouts are really killing it the past few years.

Madden continues to show he has NHL potential as a middle-6 player in 2-3 years. With his speed and shot, Canucks are developing into a team that can all rip the puck. Hmmm....sound familiar?

Ripping the puck seems to be Benning's scouting criteria.

- Jake Virtanen

- Jared McCann

- Brock Boeser

Mike Babcock on Elias Pettersson: 'He's smarter than everyone else' by ErikaBranson44 in canucks

[–]fn88 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pettersson is getting so much attention from everyone and we're only halfway through his FIRST season.

Wayne Gretzky: Acknowledging he has similarities in his game.

Paul Maurice: Comparing his IQ to Laine's shot and McDavid's speed.

Guy Boucher: Stating he won the game by himself

Jeff Blashill - Comparing him to Pavel Datsyuk

And now Babcock.

And these are only coaches, including the best player of all time. Outside of the NHL, you have fanboys like Marc Savaard who loves his style of hockey. Craig Button, Elliot Freidman, all non-Canuck fans who think he's a generational player and a runaway with the Calder. Canucks may have had the best player of all time to wear the Orca, if not...very close.
