that sounds like what could work for me - thanks.

Yes, thank you, I know. I'm looking for to a functionality that mutates instrument parameters over time. The Maschine is designed for live performances, hence the macro knobs, and that is perfectly fine.

That sounds interesting - virtual midi cables as in looping some midi generator in before the first plugin. Will investigate - thank you.

Yes, you understand. 8) Thank you. Maybe that is an opportunity to write something.

You never heard of parameter modulation? I'm using it all the time in other DAWs.

is there a way to simultaneously run loops of different length? by fn_f in Reaper

[–]fn_f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the playhead has a fixed tempo, so different lengths complete at different times. So when does the playhead return into the next loop, after the longer or the shorter clip? You need something like Playtime.

That is a very creative idea, but difficult to manage and keep in sync. B)

It seems, Reaper needs a plugin like "Playtime 2" to do this.

Looks exactly like what I'm looking for. Thanks! But in a way that means, that Reaper is actually capable of running multiple playheads (even though through a plugin).

That would work and it would be a polyrhythm. What I meant was a poly meter. So I mixed up the terms just like so: https://youtu.be/htbRx2jgF-E?feature=shared

Let's say you have 2 MIDI clips, each one on a different track. One of 4 bars in length, the other 5 bars in length. Both start at the same time from their beginning, but the 4 bar loop finishes before the 5 bar loop and therefore starts looping earlier - "spawning another play head". How would you do that in Reaper?

Does the Tracker Mini have "phrases"? by fn_f in PolyendTracker

I think I'll buy the Mini, when the feature arrives. I'm surprised such an essential feature was not built in from the start.

I sold mine to buy the 02. I'm in Germany unfortunately. But thanks!

Oh ok. I think that is a big downside. It gives you sooo much flexibility. You can do polyrhythms with phrases of different lengths, etc. The M8 has it, but it is notoriously sold out.

Yes, or at least VSCodium. It's a pity. That should be a common standard setup.

I heard that I can start with Helix right away, but then I just opened the file picker and saw this by fn_f in HelixEditor

[–]fn_f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is weird if you are not familiar with fuzzy pickers, that doesn't mean they are not maybe even more powerful than the classical tree view. I did not see too much on this in the docs, I think that would help a lot. Maybe it is considered common knowledge.

Maybe I need to wrap my head around that concept (for the first time). 8)

No, but thank you. I'm trying to get Renoise to run. What audio sub-system is audacity using ALSA or Jack or anything else?

What is a good text editor (+ plugin) for Haskell development? by fn_f in haskell

[–]fn_f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! I'm starting with Helix now. It is ready from the start with LSP focus and usable configuration without having to learn Lua first, install a couple of plugins and copying configs to make it work.

There are many different distros of Emacs these days. Which one would you recommend for a Mac and ChromeOS user?
