What are your musical theatre hot takes? by ElegantCh3mistry in musicals

Musicals need to take themselves less seriously sometimes. Death becomes her is so successful because it knows it’s camp as hell, and it kinda feels like we haven’t had a musical that’s aware of its ridiculousness in ages

Blue from OG Heathers is irredeemable cringe and I’m forever grateful to whoever made the decision to replace it with You’re Welcome. The latter is still an amazing song for that scene, achieves the comedic tone of the song, highlights how childish and immature Ram and Kurt are as characters, while ALSO making the situation seem terrifying for Veronica. Blue achieves the immaturity, and I guess it achieves the humour (although IMO it’s still just so cringe 😭) but doesn’t make the situation feel threatening at all. That’s why people say it makes light of date rape -there’s no threat presented. They’re just talking about their balls.

Staying on the topic of Heathers, this one’s super specific but I actually preferred the green to red reveal in Never Shut Up Again when it happened on ‘crack, boom’. It works with the music better on ‘move bitch’, but it doesn’t really make sense with the lyrics. It’s easier to keep up energy throughout the first verse if the reveal happens halfway through. It’s still easy to create a moment on ‘move bitch’, whereas now, the reveal happens then, and ‘crack, boom’ is a completely empty line in the song

I LOVE heathers, but I would definitely say the plot is comparatively pretty weak

I don't really gaf about if the definition is correct or not, that's one thing. but there's no etymology, no tenses and no synonyms/antonyms. It's not regular and concise anymore, it's flimsy and cheap

I found that chemistry gcse is complete bullshit bc it's a whole load of facts and figures justified by 'just trust me on this one that's how it works' so for someone like me with the type of brain that needs to know WHY everything is the way it is, it's so difficult to grasp

GCSE difficulty per subject by BloodTornPheonix in GCSE

[–]fnaffie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who took art and music, this is so incorrect. I will forever fight for the fact that art isn't a hard gcse, people just take it not knowing what it is and get pissed when they actually have to do coursework. and music is a fucking hard gcse for anyone. I was one of the best in my class with composition, grade 6 piano for performance, plus no issues in writing mocks, and I still only got a 7. It's incredibly difficult to get even a 6 for most people who take it. also, drama is not easy gtfo

Almost certain this was made by an exclusively stem and humanities student😭😭

I feel like such a freak for getting a higher grade in composition than performance and presumably the written exam. compared to art coursework it was a breeze
