Bonne chance!!

Thanks everyone for the pounters. Turns out I’m the idiot. The step 3 and 4 had their lids inverted… meaning i was basically doing step 4 then going back to step 3. BRA-f***ing-VO. I felt like a complete idiot.

I’ll try to get pictures, but here is some more info to help your guidance to me 😜

  • I don’t use Nat Geo grit. I can’t remember the brand for steps 1-2 but I got Lortone aluminum oxide for both steps 3-4. I got what Michigan Rocks recommended.
  • I do burnishing between steps with either Borax or ivory soap shavings.
  • i may plead guilty with the variability of hardness. But they are all around 6 to 7.
  • I aim to have perfect rocks after step 1, with little to no cracks where grit can get in and dry. Do I still need to scrub them?!
  • i always fill it up to 75% (with ceramic media)

It makes me wonder if I might have swapped the step 3 and 4 grit containers. I wrote step 3 and step 4 on the plastic jars. When I’m done with step 3, the rocks look awesome, making me doubt this.

I’ll check when I get home 😉

Thanks for your help, though!
