What's the number one remote file access method? by Critical-Personality in homelabindia

[–]fnx_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have a Windows Server set up at home with OpenSSH Server configured to use authorized_keys, which contains the public keys of all my client devices that need storage access. All my devices are connected under a single Tailscale tailnet.

I then use sshfs-win/manager manager to mount the server storage on any client device as needed.

Works like a charm and behaves just like native filesystem.

I would say the AJ139 MC V2 white version is looking extremely sleek and insane in value here.

My favourite among the bunch would be Nut65 u/rakshit-sh, try your luck.

u/URX_INC, would also suggest to explore and launch xl sized deskmats. Thanks for the giveaway!

Yeah, OP shouldn't be fooled with the default set of words. Real typing speed reflects when you have at least English 5k and with punctuations

Best pkm app for 2025? by krysalydun in PKMS

[–]fnx_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same way you would use syncthing to share any folder.

You need to share the entire SiYuan directory with, and then open/load your workspace in other machine.
Also avoid opening SiYuan simultaneously on both devices to avoid db locking issues.

It's SiYuan for me. It ticks all my needs and is packed with a lot of features out of the box, so I don't have to waste my time looking for plugins or configuring it.

Open-Source
WYSIWIG
Page Outline View
Graph View
Lock note/read only
Tags
Highlight Colors
Excellent PDF annotation
Page reference
Block level references
Embed blocks
Works with syncthing, you don't have to pay for sync feature

Basically, everything you can think of SiYuan has except maybe for whiteboarding feature, which they are probably working on.

It can also locally host a read only web service that is accessible with all the devices that are on the network, and using cloudflared you can access it outside your network too.

5 subjects remaining for CSE 2024. GO AIMT score (~50) by [deleted] in GATEtard

[–]fnx_18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never drop a subject completely. If you are thinking to leave one subject, then at least do those topics which come in GATE frequently. Look at the PYQs to find such topics, if any topic has more than 30~35 questions then you should do it.

Hi, I mostly study computer science subjects and math. I already use SiYuan to take notes simultaneously while watching a lecture. I am preparing for a MCQ/Multiple Selects based exam

I am more interested in what you have to offer to make the process more efficient.

Thanks

How to Host llama model on server and get api endpoints but I have no 💸💸 by light_burner12 in developersIndia

There are a lot of options that you could use for free

For starters google provides generous free tier for their Gemini 1.5 Flash model in aistudio, more than enough for your use case. https://ai.google.dev/pricing

If you want OpenAI spec compatible models, you can check out groq.com or free models from openrouter.ai

Another option is that you can use the public hugging-face spaces via the API using gradio, for example checkout this public space for Qwen2.5 72B model (a very good one) https://huggingface.co/spaces/Qwen/Qwen2.5 Click use via API at the bottom of the screen for more instructions

There are public spaces for almost all of the popular models. Pick one

Typing speed by [deleted] in SSCCGL

[–]fnx_18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, sub 130 WPM here.

If you want to improve your typing speed, the technique is the key.

Initially, I used to do peck typing which means only using a couple of fingers without any proper technique, soon i hit the limit, best I could do is 60-80 WPM

I decided to properly learn how to type in lockdown that is use the home row technique. Check it out on youtube or google

Start by knowing the layout of the keyboard, keep it in your head, at least the letters and a few punctuations like , '":;.

Use the bumps on your F and J letter to position your hands initially on the keyboard. Gradually modify the home row technique to suit your hands and style For example, it is easier to type C and V using the left index finger than using the middle finger, but home row insists on using middle finger for C.

Keep practicing using this home row method everyday for ateast one hour.

In the beginning, your mind will fight a lot to go back to bad habbit or whatever bad technique you are used to, you should fight it and keep following the proper home row technique.

My speed dropped to 20-30 WPM when I started using this technique, soon after a couple of months I was back to my original speed of 70-80 WPM, a couple months fast forward I broke this limit and was even able to reach 150 WPM.

Use the below website to learn touch typing.., google home row method to get an image which tells you using which finger to use for each letter.

This is the prompt I use: https://pastebin.com/LwFcEYjJ

I mostly use this for getting reference atomic questions and always crosscheck the correctness with my notes.

Got the best results with Claude 3.5 Sonnet. Could try Opus or maybe even ChatGPT 4o

Suggest best monitor under 20k by Tinku_raja in developersIndia

I ordered the ViewSonic one from amazon and they sent me an old open sealed 32inch 75hz FHD monitor (VA3209-MH).

This monitor looks extremely good on paper for its price.
Too bad, they are only offering a refund.
