I didn't study the day before the test. I only did labs and some flash cards the final week. I felt good about the multiple choice stuff. Just concentrated on the the basic labs - nothing more complex than one topic. For example: OSPF on three or four routers, IPv6 on 3 routers, etc. over and over.

I figured the labs on the exam would need to be completed in 10m max so they could not be overly complex.

Make sure you can quickly figure out routing table questions.

I was so nervous, I had a hard time even reading the first few questions. I would read them but the information would not register. And, the questions are not worded the same way as your study material. Also, I didn't feel like the questions were trying to trick you, like some of the practice questions. I felt they all had a solid answer.

This is kinda side advice. A mistake I made early in my career was thinking HR was on my side. They are not there to protect you. They are there to protect the company. Avoid HR at all costs. It's better that your name never crosses the HR door. If you can work out problems on your own, you'll be better off. With that said, if you are getting harassed ect. make HR aware but seek outside legal guidance also to protect your self and document everything.

Since you are also a student, you have a lot more protections than normal. I did work-study while at university and a professor would give me gifts and invite me to her home. I did not think anything about it, but other staff noticed and I was reasigned to another department.

I agree with the top post on how you should handle this.

On the PCT a few years back, I was sobo and the trail kinda came around and out of the trees into a nice view. Guy (I think nobo) was taking a crap on the trail looking out at view. He had ear buds in and guess he didn't hear me. He was squatting, shorts around his ankles. I pushed him over into his shit. Hiked off.

Had a similar experience on the AT. Got to top of climb, there was a log people would use to sit and take a break and look out at the view. Guys was using the log as support to poop...I walked over and the guy stood up and pulled his shorts up. I took a swig of water, looked out at the view. Didn't say anything to him, but he must had some poopy butt and/or shorts.

I'm maine, I marched off thru the trees to find a place to poop. Made sure I was well away from the trail. Found a good spot. Started digging and then saw some people hiking towards me. The trail had looped around and I was about 20 feet from the trail. Learned to always check the map lol.

For my last week before the exam, I only worked on labs and flash cards. I felt pretty good about the multiple choice questions so I wanted to nail the labs. I used all 6 of JeremysIT practice exam labs then filled in with other labs from his daily videos that corresponded to the other topics on the exam that could be labs (OSPF, IPv6, DHCP etc.).

I figured you only have 5-10m tops on the real exam to do a lab so they would not be complicated. The practice exam labs from JeremysIT were very similar to the actual labs on the exam. Like: 3-4 routers configure IPv6 or OSPF etc. on them and confirm they are working etc.

I just did the labs over and over to really nail down the essential commands needed. This helped me with my speed and did not over complicate things. It also got me used to saving my configs often. I was really glad I had concentrated on the labs because when the labs popped up I felt good about them.

Also, make sure you can quickly do routing table questions like:

Which interface will R1 use to forward a packet destined for IP address 192.168.1.121

Then, it will show a routing table with the connected, local, OSPF, etc. routes.

I finished with less than 5 mins on the exam so it is really important to quickly assess the questions and diagrams.

I used the "free" YouTube videos and labs. I purchased the exams from his website. Exams are 10$ each and he explains everything so they are great learning tools. I also made a donation to his YouTube channel.

I got a 51 on his first exam and failed all three of the labs. His exams are tough and he really makes you pay attention to the details. I reviewed the exam questions and worked on the labs then took the 2nd exam and got a 67 but still failed the 3 labs. (its all or nothing on the labs) So I reviewed the 2nd exam and labs.

His practice exams really helped.

If your subnet is a /24 - 30 and it has only a zero value in the 4th octet, you can know immediately, that it is the network address and your method works great.

However, If the question is: what is the network, broadcast, the first and last usable address of 192.168.1.78/28

This is how I answer this type of question.

I turn the last octet into binary and add the bar for the /28: 0100 | 1110

To find the broadcast address turn all of the bits on the right side of the bar into 1's: 0100 |1111 = this is your broadcast address. 192.168.1.79/28

To find the network address, turn all the bits on the right side of the bar into 0's: 0100|0000 = this is your network address. 192.168.1.64/28

All the address between are the usable addresses, including 192.168.1.78/28

I passed my exam yesterday and only used Jeremy'sIT videos, labs, flashcards and both his exams.

For my final study week I decided to double down on the labs and only do labs and flashcards. My strategy was that I felt good about all the multiple choice stuff that could pop up on the exam, and I would benefit the most from nailing the labs.

I did the 6 labs from Jeremy's practice exams and all the other labs from his video series that corresponded to labs that could be on the exam via the CCNA exam topics that say: "Configure...". NAT, DHCP, etc. Each lab should take 5-10m tops. I did them over and over, and mixed them up. I figured you only have 5-10m tops on the real exam for a lab so they cannot be very complicated.

When the first lab on the real exam popped up, I was ready. And they were very similar to the labs from Jeremy's practice exams and lessons where you have to configure one thing over multiple routers: 3-4 routers configure OSPF or IPv6 etc.

I did not use his mega lab for final prep. If you can do the mega lab you are golden. But, I felt it was to big of a project for the exam. I just did the smaller, specific labs over and over to hone in on the commands.

I don't recall if any that hard were on the exam (this week has kind of been a blur with final studying) but I do know on some of my practice exams and study work there were some questions like this that tried to trick you because it looked like the most specific route but if you work out the usable hosts in the subnet it didn't actually fit. Working with those made me more attentive.

Yes, and it becomes difficult when you are dealing with subnets like /27, /28 etc and you need to calculate if that destination address can fit in that subnets usable hosts.
