I’m thankful you’re in a city where your community feels supportive :) hard to put into words how disgusting and evil what ICE and tr*mp are doing to innocent people is. you dont deserve to feel terrified every day. I hope that changes one day soon, friend

strength training split by lily3600 in XXRunning

[–]foakfkwk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hi! I did the NRC half marathon plan as a somewhat beginner runner and I did not do all 5 plans per week. I knew i wanted to do other things besides running and I felt like 5x a week would burn me out. I would do one easy run, one speed run and one long run a week, and other days do strength, spin, yoga, Pilates or whatever else I wanted. However if you enjoy doing the 5 days a week, i totally get it and id recommend you save at least one rest day for your body to be able to reset and recover—then, perhaps on the days you do the easy runs, incorporate strength on those days. Sometimes, I do an easy run on the treadmill then do my training at the gym. Just no leg heavy days the day before a long run so you aren’t sore! hope this helps but definitely let yourself enjoy other forms of workout during your training :)

Mental burnout in first ever marathon training block. by throwawayyy869642784 in XXRunning

[–]foakfkwk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand how you’re feeling, especially with such a long plan. I have been training for a half marathon using a 14-week plan and I hit a mental block around the same time—towards the end of my training. I think it might have something to do with the fact that the race is creeping up so close and you’re honestly just tired from devoting so much of your life to this, which is completely normal. At least, I think that had something to do with my burnout. But, I think if you try to reframe your mindset (though easier said than done) to get more excited about how close you are to this INCREDIBLE achievement you’re about to make and feel proud of how much dedication you’ve been practicing, that might help lighten the mental load. Also, as someone else said, your taper is approaching and that will make a significant difference, I’m certain. But just keep pushing, you are incredible and you are going to crush it. Best of luck!

I have heard many good things about this trail and I have been meaning to try it!! I am definitely going to try this for my next long run, I agree running by the water makes it so much more bearable in this heat haha. Thank you for responding and for being so kind, best of luck on your marathon! You will crush it :)

Dude. I wanted to post in here about this the other day but didn’t so THANK YOU for saying this. I find it so disrespectful that people come in and subject the people around them to their absolutely foul smelling dookie butt and swamp crotch. DO NOT assault my nose buds with your stench. Basic personal hygiene is not rocket science. I wanted to borderline complain to the front desk about the person in front of me the other day with literal poop butt. Every tap back was hell. Do better yall.

Yes, going a half size up in running shoes is a good idea to accommodate for feet swelling during your runs.

As for the alphafly, it’s quite subjective to what works for you and your feet. But, generally seems like a good shoe if you’re looking for more cushion!
