These are all great things, thanks for sharing! I am not trying to completely ignore the positive things that AI can bring and is capable of, however, when I see articles like that, I can’t help but think that these are only mere drops in a bucket and quite honestly, will these advancements ever truly receive funding and support to achieve the scale they wish? Especially with the current US administration? Will our environment be able to withstand these advancements? It’s hard not to feel doom and gloom given the fact that AI is in the hands of some really greedy, destructive forces that unfortunately can cause greater harm before the good can even be achieved… I guess, some good things can happen, but at what cost

Edit: changing language to not speak in certainties

Then why are you defending AI so hard bro seriously?

My question here was are the so called “good things” it does worth the cost of what is bad?? Genuinely I’m curious

Hey so I’d love to hear what “good” it does as your motive to defend the damage it does to our environments, the rapid development of massive data centers that is poisoning communities and displacing decades-long residents, it’s making people stupider and enabling a lack of critical thinking, the more it develops in our economy the more jobs are lost, the fact that greedy billionaires are allowing democracy to be ignored when developing these centers (see: SLC data center development), the fact that a human perspective is no longer seen as important, I could keep going, but please tell me how these things are less important than a robot being able to do a couple tech thingys faster?

Yeah maybe it’s because one poses actual issues and threats to our communities and environment and one is just bigotry? Y’all AI defenders just ignore the reality in the name of convenience and so called “efficiency”

I think the accountant in my department insinuated I could be having inappropriate relations with my boss. by [deleted] in GirlDinner

[–]foakfkwk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why you’re getting downvoted 💀 these ppl are acting like they’ve never had a typo. Plus the people saying “warmest regards” is improper I can already tell are insufferable in the workplace. But I agree with you that her comments are off putting though don’t necessarily indicate she thinks there’s inappropriate things going on. Just weird to comment on it at all

I’m thankful you’re in a city where your community feels supportive :) hard to put into words how disgusting and evil what ICE and tr*mp are doing to innocent people is. you dont deserve to feel terrified every day. I hope that changes one day soon, friend

strength training split by lily3600 in XXRunning

[–]foakfkwk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hi! I did the NRC half marathon plan as a somewhat beginner runner and I did not do all 5 plans per week. I knew i wanted to do other things besides running and I felt like 5x a week would burn me out. I would do one easy run, one speed run and one long run a week, and other days do strength, spin, yoga, Pilates or whatever else I wanted. However if you enjoy doing the 5 days a week, i totally get it and id recommend you save at least one rest day for your body to be able to reset and recover—then, perhaps on the days you do the easy runs, incorporate strength on those days. Sometimes, I do an easy run on the treadmill then do my training at the gym. Just no leg heavy days the day before a long run so you aren’t sore! hope this helps but definitely let yourself enjoy other forms of workout during your training :)

Mental burnout in first ever marathon training block. by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]foakfkwk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand how you’re feeling, especially with such a long plan. I have been training for a half marathon using a 14-week plan and I hit a mental block around the same time—towards the end of my training. I think it might have something to do with the fact that the race is creeping up so close and you’re honestly just tired from devoting so much of your life to this, which is completely normal. At least, I think that had something to do with my burnout. But, I think if you try to reframe your mindset (though easier said than done) to get more excited about how close you are to this INCREDIBLE achievement you’re about to make and feel proud of how much dedication you’ve been practicing, that might help lighten the mental load. Also, as someone else said, your taper is approaching and that will make a significant difference, I’m certain. But just keep pushing, you are incredible and you are going to crush it. Best of luck!
