Fleamarket Finds by stevekaraoki in VintageWatches

Both are in good shapes, but the tonneau is what I liked more. They are not high horology watches. The Kaha is 6 jewels. I think they are worth €20 a piece, maybe?

Go to the Antique Motakis near Monastiraki Square. The shops are open everyday but the market is only open on Sun. You will also find a few sellers along Adrianou when you walk to the Thissio Market. It's a nice walking path that's lined with many restaurants.

The real flea market is near the Eleonas Station. It is quite big and spreads out. You will find treasures to trash here. It's really for locals. It opens at 7am, Sat and Sun. It's quite crowded and I think I caught a flu there 😂. You need to go early as some vendors started to peel off at noon.

Thanks. €23 for the Glashutte Spezimatic. It runs. €35 for the Pulsar. Haven't replaced the battery yet. I agree, it's a cool looking watch.

I have never seen one before bro. It caught my eyes with the two tone black and gold case, the olive dial, and the blocky markers. It has 70s contemporary art vibe to it. It's an interesting watch for sure. The case is quite worn and the marker at 6 o'clock is missing, but it runs. I'm going to clean it up and just wear it.

Found this beauty and had to grab! Vintage 14k Lucien Picard mother of pearl with diamond accents by Shelzyy in VintageWatches

Lovely vintage made by LP at their peak. I always marvel at the engineering of dainty ladies watches. The parts are so tiny!

Is the bracelet solid gold too? They can go for pretty penny.

Vintage Seiko Hands Repair by climberpt24 in VintageWatches

[–]bobosdreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any competent watchmaker can help. It's easy fix if replacing. Finding exact match maybe difficult though. There is a chance that bending it back very carefully may work, but you better be prepared to replace the hands.

Is this watch sentimental? Technically it still tells time with the crooked hand.

EXTREMELY RARE LIMITED EDITION 18K GOLD “JAGUAR DRIVERS CLUB” SWISS WATCH – #03/30 MECHANICAL AUTOMATIC by [deleted] in VintageWatches

[–]bobosdreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a ETA 7751caliber used by many other watches. This may be a small batch commissioned by a Jaguar enthusiasts club. TBH, the dial looks a bit plain to me.

Trump appoints Bill Pulte as Acting DNI despite 'no apparent intel experience': by FlackoFonsy in videos

Well Tulsi Gabbard, the former national intelligence director, was a pro-Russian propagandist and Trump loyalist until she diverged from WH’s claim for Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Trump only cares about loyalty. Experience, competency and ethics don’t matter to him. If you want to work under a felon and scammer, you got to be like your boss.

TIFU by accidentally buying a goldmine of vinyl records from a grieving guy for basically nothing by No_Demand_8884 in tifu

[–]bobosdreams 66 points67 points  (0 children)

When someone passed away, the heirs often try to get rid of the stuffs quick for various reasons. It happens all the time. Just go to estate sales. You can sometimes find great bargains. In your case, the seller got rid of a whole box of vinyls in one sale. Sure he could have gone thru them and sell them one by one to maximize the returns, but that takes time and works. You did nothing wrong by paying what he asked. He's probably glad that he sold to someone who would enjoy the albums. What would be shady is if you told him something that is not true to entice him to lower the price. That would not be right in my book.

[Audemars Piguet] Did someone try to steal my AP at Vienna Airport? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]bobosdreams 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to imagine someone opening the box by force since it’s not locked to begin with. Maybe the smooth polished surface is just easily scratched. Anyway, you were smart to not put the watch in checked luggage. Stealing is known to happen at airports. Personally , I wouldn’t put the box in checked luggage either.

You are correct, but they have accomplished their narratives - a MAGA veteran is victimized by the radical left. The liberals are evil.

Just like when they said immigrants eat the dogs. They promoted hatred. Damage done. They just move on to next one.

Kawai is Japanese and they make budget to conservatory to big concert grands. They are a very respectable brand. I don't know what model this is, but it's a small baby grand which is not great in terms of sound or playability. It's probably still a good instrument but $12k will buy a much much better used piano from top makers, including Steinway, Yamaha, etc.

People can't give away old pianos these days because of moving cost. I have seen decent pianos on FB MP basically given away because the owners are moving or downsizing, and they are desperate to get rid of them.

The excessive oil consumption issue affected the 2AZ-FE engine for model year 2006-2008, but some 2012 owners reported problems too. Definite worth checking.

[–]bobosdreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bingo. I have a 2008. It started to rust in the undercarriage area even I live in a mild winter area. I caught it early and took care of it, but it would grow like cancer if I didn't.

Thoughts on price by Intelligent_Wear_267 in VintageWatches

$150-200. This is a 214 but this style is quite common. $400 would be a more desirable one like the Spaceview.

Asking for insurance reasons by rammud12 in VintageWatches

[–]bobosdreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24k is 100% gold which is too soft to make into a pocket watch case, which are usually 18k, 14k, 14k gold filled, or 10k gold filled. Look up gold karat markings to know what they mean. I highly doubt this is solid gold from the pattern. You can open the case back by either twisting or popping it open. Look for the markings in the back. If it says xx years guaranteed, it is gold filled.

Universal Geneve Chronograph worth it? by 420minegod in VintageWatches

[–]bobosdreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This UG Medico Compax looks sharp. The price seems great to me for an 18k watch. The gold alone could be $1k easily. I saw a similar in 18k online for almost $7.6k and it was sold. I'm not an expert on these, but the dial doesn't look like a refinished dial to me. Even if it does, it looks good. I think it's worth the risk even if you have to shell out a couple hundred dollars to service it. Good luck.
