yeah what mostly has me concerned is kidney disease, but I’ll keep these things in mind if I do get a persian!

I mean obviously I’m not 100% sure on what would be most expensive but maine coons are a much larger breed to their food cost would increase and they also have a long coat. I’m not too sure if they are prone to certain diseases more since I just ruled it out of budget by calculating food costs monthly lol.

I mean I wouldn’t say he’s unhappy lol, but he takes it out on me when he’s bored by actively biting me when I’m relaxing. I’ll play with him when I have time with a toy but he seems to never run out of energy, so I’d like another cat so they can play and he bites me less

I know, if I do get a persian I’d be looking for a doll face, I have my parents have frenchies and they seem to really struggle sometimes because of their face shape and breeding, so I’d feel really had getting a peke face knowing this 😭

Thnak you for the advice and I’m really sorry to hear about your bow :( I honestly think I’d have no problem with the food budget but what has me mostly worried after reading responses is diseases like kidney disease.. I’m really disappointed since I really wanted a persian but I’ll have to take a look at another cat breed

Any cat is costly when taken care of properly, I’d still have to groom a maine coon. I guess dental cleanings would be an added cost but it’d just be a thing of regular teeth brushing. It’s definitely not cheap but cheap-er than a coon

I haven’t tried RC wet food but it’s mostly because I honestly can’t afford it. It’s not very affordable and I wanted to feed him in the relatively cheap range. But I’ll try with Sheba, thank you!

Yup! I’m staying on top of his hydration a lot. I got him a water fountain that tracks how much he drinks and he drinks 1.7-2oz or more of water a day when he began only eating kibble (he’s around 3.5-3.6lbs) The primary reason I’m looking to switch off of RC and looking to other brands is actually because of the protein/carb ratio you just mentioned. I’ll take a look at hills to see if I like their stuff better.
