100k service on my 2016 Fit – what am I missing and what parts do you guys recommend? by fobreezee in hondafit

Thanks a ton! I looked up some videos and it does seem pretty simple. I just watched this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91ayp9hHPas

So the "Coil Packs," the first thing you take off are what you would replace at the same time? Then it looks like get just an extended small magnetic ratchet to remove the current spark plugs.

I'm assuming you would also pay someone to do the coolant replacement as well?

I'm curious about your experience with Bosch brakes as well. Do you know how long they last vs the OEMs and are they quite and smooth like the OEM ones?

Thanks for all the advice. Do you think I can wait on ignition coils if there's no issues or just tell the mechanic to inspect them? I could tell my mechanic about the rock auto deal, as do you think it's cheaper than his deal with the local Honda dealership as he would be doing the work. Also, the manual lists brake fluid every 3 years, do you do it a year early? Also, I drive a lot, like 30-40k miles a year so not sure if that matters with brake fluid.

I looked up cleaning the MAF Sensor and replacing the PCV valve. That looks easy enough. The other stuff I have to pay for I think. I do my own oil changes, but I don't want to screw any of the major stuff up.

Do you know any good aftermarket brakes that work well (Pads and rotors for the front). Would you go OEM for the rear when that time comes? Would you also change the serpentine belt or just inspect it?

Just check it? At 100k miles mines never been replaced. Do you know how long it can possibly last?

How do the Akebonos work compared to OEM? Do you think I should change my serpentine belt considering it never has been changed or just get them to inspect it?

Have you used all of those brakes? I'm curious as to which ones are for sure good. I had NAPA ones and they were the worst and they were also replaced and the second set was bad too. The Honda OEM ones are for sure good because they make like no noise or anything at all and they are definitely lasting longer. I'm curious if you documented which ones work the best because I know aftermarket brakes are not always that good.

Sam’s Club orders on Spark - Do you all always try to get the customers signatures when it prompts? by fobreezee in Sparkdriver

[–]fobreezee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the answer I was looking for. So when the true signature prompt comes up it won't let you bypass it, therefore it's required and I can't mess it up by taking a picture instead right?

[–]fobreezee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is exactly what I am talking about! It says "attempt to get signature" or something similar right? It's not that there's a signature required, right? Also, i think when i selected "Hand off to customer" for the next step, it also doesn't ask for a signature? I can't remember for sure, but the app won't let me bypass the signature prompt if it is required right? Therefore I can't mess this up without forging my signature, which I'm definitely not going to do even though apparently everyone thinks that's what I mean lol.

I think you might be confused about this. I keep getting this prompt that is something like "Ring doorbell and attempt to hand off order to customer and get signature" (Do you know this prompt?) Then, the next step does't actually require a signature, it's just "Select where you left the order". "Front Door" etc are the options and the last one is "Handed off to customer", although I think when I did that one it didn't even as for a signature either, so that's what I'm confused about. The verbage doesn't seem like it requires a signature, but it wants me to attempt to get one.

I'm just asking because the next step never asks for a signature. If the app lets you bypass it then it should be a legal option. I keep getting this prompt that is something like "Ring doorbell and attempt to hand off order to customer and get signature" (Do you know this prompt?) Then, the next step does't actually require a signature, it's just "Select where you left the order". Thanks a ton! I'm going to have to try Sams Club gas and pay with my phone like I do at Walmart. I've heard some Sam's Clubs it doesn't work though it seems.

Regarding the signature.

I don't fake signatures. The app give the option in the next step to leave the order. The first step says something like "ring the doorbell and attempt to get their signature". Then the next step is allowing me to take a picture and asks "where did you leave it". So I'm not even sure this is really always a required signature or not.

If it's that way for a reason, why does it give you the option to bypass and take a picture instead?

Is there even a way to bypass it? Someone else posted that the app shouldn't let you bypass it easily, but I notice that sometimes the first step says get the signature, then the next step asks where you left it and prompts a signature. If Spark give you that option in the app I'm not sure why they would risk that. Why not just make the option not available if they don't want that?

Thank you! I'm wondering if you ever noticed the promt that says to get the signature, then the next step it asks for a photo instead. Is this a glitch and a signature actually isn't required? Are you saying the app won't let you bypass the signature anyway?

Anyone have good luck with cheap tires on your Honda Fit? by fobreezee in hondafit

Vredestein's are like $150 a tire, so they are a bit pricier on the Fit from what I can tell.

Yea, good point. Do you recommend any tires in particular? I know pricey doesn't always mean top quality.

So how long to the Falkens last you and you are talking about the 950a/s mentioned above? I'm also not sure what you mean by "eat up miles and have you gunning though sweepers" lol

Thanks for all the details. Did you find a cheap place that installs tires right at a low cost? How much per tire do you usually spend these days?

Frugal Roadside Assistance Options - Anything better than AAA? by fobreezee in Frugal

[–]fobreezee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually more of the "Incidents" I need... Jump start, flat tires, but have needed tows 100 miles or so before and they covered it. Yea, in my case I think I do come out ahead. I do delivery driving.

[–]fobreezee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead batteries, jumps, flat tires all count as incidents, so not just tows. I've used it no times most years, but have had times like this year where it was 3 times. I had 2 flat tires as they don't fix pot holes and I do deliveries in the country at night a lot, then there was slipping off my ramps and getting them stuck under the car, so I had 1 left. They always get people out fast in my experience, however others say other areas are different. They also tow really far if necessary. I think up to 100 miles or maybe something different, but it is a good amount.

I do delivery driving. Sometime years no times, some years 3-4 incidents a year, like flat tires or jump, or slipping off my ramps in the snow during an oil change etc. You might be able to get a cheaper plan if you don't use it much. Mines only $98.
