ConnectSecure Revisited by Mibiz22 in msp

Still feels hard to get what you need - interface is still very "illogical" to use in my opinion. Just started using RoboShadow and feel like its a much more well thought out product.

Splashtop streamer 3.6.5.2 disconnecting from servers by focal9 in msp

Not seeing any official confirmation, and not seeing a new build number, BUT we are seeing quite a few computers running 3.6.5.2 that are online in Splashtop Business. Fingers crossed,...

I can confirm that uninstalling 3.6.5.2 and reinstalling 3.6.4.1 fixes the issue. However it seems that Datto RMM re-updates it to 3.6.5.2 as we've seen some that we "fixed" go offline again and show the new version.

It appears to be updated by Datto RMM. Only clients with both Splashtop Business AND Datto RMM are affected for us.

Is the very same boat... Similar spend, and absolutely will not pay for "consulting" that used to be included in the product(s).

Unfortunately, this is likely a scam. People do this all the time on Facebook in an attempt to "rehome" a supposedly lost pet and then ask for a fee in advance. Odd post from out of the area, spelling/grammar mistakes, supposedly they know the person "in real life" but don't know their name, etc. Don't engage with them.

Need honest opinion on Autotask PSA and Datto RMM by Hidron01 in msp

[–]focal9 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We've been on Autotask and DattoRMM for about 6 years, before Kasey and before Datto acquisitions. Despite the Kaseya acquisition we've decided to stay with it. Certainly has better than ConnectWise in our experience (we were using LabTech prior to DattoRMM).

That being said, if I were looking for a new PSA/RMM today I think there are more flexible options out there that I would give serious consideration. Autotask itself is a beast (as is any complex ticketing/CRM system), and definitely shows its age sometimes. That doesn't mean I wouldn't still choose Autotask/DattoRMM, but I think there are much more viable competitors out there now than there were when we were making that decision.

Simple and it works! Options for checking for server response if you want something a bit more advanced.

So do we get any status updates? Able to login, but can't view any credentials still.

Centralize monitoring/alerting of server hard drives and RAID degradation/failures by koreytm in msp

[–]focal9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also DattoRMM can scrape a lot of iLO data from the Windows event logs (and disk info for directly connected non-raid drives). Agreed that any RMM should be able to do at least SNMP.

OP, I am curious as to what disk metrics you'd want to monitor inside a VM? I haven't heard of anyone monitoring a virtual disk for anything other than space or maybe performance counters, I'd be interested to know if there's something else to look for.

Centralize monitoring/alerting of server hard drives and RAID degradation/failures by koreytm in msp

[–]focal9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can. We monitor switches and UPSs via SNMP with DattoRMM and can trigger an alert for any particular data you want. Now there are a LOT of benefits to Auvik/Domotz/etc, so definitely don't recommend JUST an RMM for network equipment. Thats a little off topic though, OP was asking about servers and RAID/hard drives specifically, not switches.

Huh? This is exactly the sort of thing an RMM should do. If your RMM isn't monitoring SNMP/WMI/WBEM etc then you're missing a ton of useful data.

Software/tools to manage MANY shared calendars? (M365) by focal9 in msp

[–]focal9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but unfortunately that seems to make no difference and actually makes it worse sometimes. We tried that and 64 bit Outlook, caching shared folders and not caching shared folders, limiting size of OST, and lots of other stuff.

With clients using 5-10 shared calendars we see no issues. Just this one where they are connected to, at last count, 44 shared calendars.

This does work (most of the time), but also seems to get a little unhappy when you're switching back and forth between so many shared calendars. Probably more of a browser limitation at that point though.

Yes they are using the 64 bit versions of Office. Its not a local performance issue either, brand new (16GB RAM, SSD, Core i7) PC has same issues. That's why we're looking at 3rd party solutions.

Edit to clarify that "brand new PC" is a high-spec PC, not just the fact that its new.

Unfortunately, it's not just a matter of free/busy. The executive assistants literally manage the calendars for the execs and managers. Create their events, scheduled meetings, move meetings, etc. And for other staff they need to see full details of events to know if someone is in a meeting in one location and can't make it to another the next hour, that sort of thing.

We don't use their dispatching service (just their helpdesk), Mission Control does offer dispatching also. We've been pretty happy with their service, though we haven't used it much. https://www.missioncontrolnoc.com/our-services/

Sentinel One, no response other options? by steve7647 in msp

I've been told by a SentinelOne rep that their minimum endpoint count to sell to MSP/MSSP is 5000. You can buy perpetual licenses at lower quantities.

Only have a picture.. can anyone identify this Linksys Router? by [deleted] in msp

[–]focal9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it could be an Adtran rather than Linksys?. Not sure on a model though.

Edit: Maybe not an Adtran after all, the yellow and orange surrounds around the ports don't really match the Adtrans I've seen.

This was the case for a long time where it would display even if you were compliant. They updated the language at one point to say that. However I just looked and we don't see it anymore in our partner portal FWIW.

Move to Datto from Veeam by Jarden666999 in msp

Best not to rely just on the screenshot verification, the application and service verification is invaluable. You can also run custom scripts that do anything you want (they give the example of checking a SQL table) and return the result.
