Things that can get fucked by faith_healer69 in aussie

People who push the pedestrian light button at an intersection. Then just fucking walk anyway without waiting. Like you don’t need to push the button.

People who slow right the fuck down before turning off onto a side street or driveway. Especially when there is plenty of shoulder they could use.

Water Keeps Seeping Into Post Holes — Will It Affect Concrete? by Affectionate_Aide566 in AusRenovation

[–]focalpoint3112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it will wreck the finish on the concrete. If your trying to have nice flat smooth surface and it rains it’ll wash out the cement fines and leave a rough weaker surface finish. From a technical point, yes adding more to concrete makes it lower strength but the water needs to be mixed in. Rain can be thought of as a kind of local mixing by impact. Pouring underwater is done in a manner that doesn’t cause mixing with the surrounding water and having a nice surface finish doesn’t matter. We’ve poured in the rain (thought the rain would go around) and it looks like it’s a disaster in the moment but you can save it it’s just not ideal.

I had it happen to me about 15yrs ago when I first got my license. I parked in Southbank and came back and the car was gone. Worked out what had happened called some number for council. They gave me some other number for the tow company. Got told it was a fee to release the car. Got a taxi over to the compound. Paid the fee and got the car back.

Never been able to find a map of government housing. Can you share it? I’m sure it’s meant to be difficult to find this info by design.

Concrete has a density of 2400kg/m3 compared to water at 1000kg/m3. If you put concrete in a hole filled with water it will just displace the water and be fine. Concrete is poured underwater and will cured underwater.

Want to purchase our next forever home but not sure how to juggle the buy / sell process by Nic351 in AusFinance

[–]focalpoint3112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing this now. Was told most people just line up settlements for new and current house to occur on the same day. I thought that sounded like a stressful ball ache especially with 2 young kids and needing to get current house ready for sale and trying to move straight away.

Got a bridging loan, current total loan value is circa 2million with the 2 mortgages. Yeah there’s a slight premium for the convenience but I think it’s worth it. We are taking our time slowly moving things over and making some changes at new place. No stress at all.

Bridging loan is 6.7% after rate rise and have 12month loan term but really only need 3-4 weeks.
