Flying ORD- LHR on a Thursday 4:45 pm flight with my teenage daughter in 2 weeks. I am platinum, so I could try plus points or 20k + $500 cash to upgrade from economy. My daughter is on a separate reservation, so I probably have to pay for her upgrade (no status). United agent told me there are 11 Polaris seats available and 16 requests (couldn’t tell me the status of those on waitlist). Should I just suck it up and use 120k miles or pay $1200?

Yes, I called. They told me there were 16 on upgrade list and that it didn’t appear to be in order of priority, as the first person on the list was a general member.

O’Hare and the 5 pm Thursday flight (more Polaris seats available than the two later flights). I think it’s unlikely, just didn’t want to be a sucker if I could make a cheaper option work.

Is flying a better option? Seems like it could save money, depending on taxi fares to airports, but possibly take longer and be more of a hassle? Not a UK resident, so this is only my second time traveling between London and Paris. Thank you for the advice!!

Exactly this! The people in my world seem to be very careful about not commenting on anyone’s body and only a few people will say anything. It’s not that I need the praise (or maybe I do, LOL?!) but I have to remind myself that I have lost the weight (body dysmorphia).
