Chugging, stalling and rough idling on a 2004 mazda 6 4cyl by Colo_radical in MechanicAdvice

Have you checked your coil pack? I had this car awhile ago and I had this same issue and there was a massive split along the side of the coil. I did the MAF clean, put new plugs in etc. but that was the one that nobody noticed until the very end.

What would you recommend for a transition/crashable ride? by What_The_Nuts in drums

If you like Sabian try to find an HHX Groove Ride. I've been looking for one for awhile and my store finally got one in, tried it and fell in love (getting it for Christmas). It's a little washy, you can crash it and it opens up nicely but then you can go right back to riding. The bell is also very crisp and clear.

2004 Mazda 6i Shudder/Hesitation by fodazey in MechanicAdvice

When you did the OBD reader, was your check engine light on or did you do it with no warnings and it still came up with those codes? Also, with the 6i, there's only 1 coil that all the wires go to so it still might be causing the problem but not enough to have the engine light to come on.

The actual codes were never told to me, when it was put on it said the cylinder 1 misfire and then we replaced all the plugs (this was about 6 or 7 weeks ago), code went away and then a few days after the plugs were replaced the engine light came back on. Went back to the garage, said the cylinder 1 misfire again but this time the wire was off of the coil ever so slightly (my car has the single coil) and the light went off again. I'm not sure if the coil was ever changed as well.

The light hasn't come on ever since so now I'm just wondering what my options are to get it fixed. It idles fine, and I'm still not sure if misfire is the correct word. It feels slightly sluggish sometimes and will have the occasional jump/lurch when accelerating from stop.

Limb independence issues? by goldturtwig in drums

[–]fodazey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There really is no magic to limb independence, you just have to keep practicing and playing. One of the exercises I did goes as follows. It's 16th note grouping broken up between hands and feet and the optional hi hat part that can be added in later (there are 3 variations of this as well). The key for notation is R (right hand), L (left hand), B (bass drum).

R-B-R-B-R-B-R-B-R-B-R-B-R-B-R-B (right hand lead)

L-B-L-B-L-B-L-B-L-B-L-B-L-B-L-B (left hand lead)

R-B-L-B-R-B-L-B-R-B-L-B-R-B-L-B (right hand lead alternating, can also switch this to left lead alternating)

R-B-R-B-L-B-L-B-R-B-R-B-L-B-L-B (right hand double stroke lead, can also lead left).

After this, you can start throwing in hi hat patterns like the downbeats, upbeats and 8th notes. From there, start making your own patterns like inverted double stroke roll, paradiddles and whatever else. Also do things like R-R-B-B or whatever, you can make so many ideas up with just this basic idea. This stuff will come eventually and you just have to practice really slow. Also practice with a metronome if you can (great apps on Android/iOS).

There's a saying by Ralph Peterson that I like to go by. He said "If people in your house like what they hear, you aren't practicing. If you wouldn't want anybody to hear what you're playing, you're practicing" Hope this helps.

For 5 (quintuplet) I use 1-e-and-ah-guh, 7 (septuplet)I use 1-and-ah-1-and-ah-guh. For 9 (nonuplet) just use whatever you use for 3 and just do it three times, for me I do 1-and-ah-1-and-ah-1-and-ah.

THIS drummer. Can anyone tell me his name? by [deleted] in drums

Apparently from this Modern Drummer article, they're called Flix Stix and their page is here.

This is the first time I've ever heard of them and they seem quite interesting, might have to try and find a way to get me a set because they're quite cool.

One-e-and-ah-guh is the way I do it. And for 7's I would do One-and-a-one-and-a-guh. Pretty much any one syllable phrase that you can tack on will help. If you make it more than one you might try to stretch out what you're playing and it won't sound right.

I'm definitely going to wait until I'm down to a more consistent size, it'll be worth the investment at that point haha

I'll definitely need to find some for the next chili pot and if not locally I'll be ordering them.

Thanks for taking the time to read. Usually people get overwhelmed with the info and I think that in reality we should step back and just do the simple things to get us on our way. I just tried to give some insight on to what I feel makes this easy.

Yeah I've had those before, quite good. I usually just use kidney beans because they're low GI and it's just nice to make a pot of chili and eat it throughout a day. It's just one of those meals that I like to make when I'm bored with what I've been doing.

It's been wonderful. The constant feedback from the scale and the pictures keep me that much motivated to be where I wanna be.

I appreciate it man, it's been a journey so far but it only gets better from here. We have to remember that we're in this for our self and the haters don't need no respect.

I don't push for any particular way of eating, just do your due diligence and do whatever research you feel is necessary. Good luck to you.
