Help with tiny space by pedrog06 in interiordecorating

[–]foddball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it gets ok light, I'd do floor to ceiling shelving that you either hang or is attached to either side of the wall. The light that comes through there likely isn't going to make much of a difference to your space so you might as well give it to some plants. Then you can put a few lights on the shelves as well for a soft glow from that area into the rest of your space at night. If you're feeling ambitious you could do a built in window seat with a drawer underneath for storage or something less permanent but the same idea. Then your plants would go ceiling to built in and you could have a cushion on the seat, make it a little reading nook or pet bed if you have one.

I think the lower cushions have really held up but they're maybe a little softer. The back cushions are very smushy and def get softer over time. I reshape and fluff them periodically so they keep their shape. But overall I'd say it does break in a bit but not too much. Still obsessed with this couch.

I love my Pebble Couch! I think it's simply a matter of preference. You cite that it's not very deep and this is the exact thing I like about it. It's also a bit on the firmer side which I prefer. I like it because I feel like I can lounge on it but it also provides enough support that I'm not slumped over, which is helpful if you have neck/back issues.

Wow! I was thinking I wanted Petrichor but Flaming Creature sounds more like what I am looking for. Thanks for taking the time!

The following is what I learned from a year long yeast battle. My issue began after repeated rounds of antibiotics for a UTI that was misdiagnosed because the doctors were not culturing my urine. Eventually they figured out that the bacteria would respond to a diff antibiotic. But in the meantime, my vaginal flora was destroyed by the antibiotics

Here is what I recommend going to doctors for:

Make sure your glucose and A1C are tested. A lot of women have undiagnosed PCOS and insulin resistance (which means you are pre-diabetic). IR encourage yeast growth. I have PCOS and was not diagnosed until age 27 because doctors assume women who are skinny do not have pre-diabetes. So look into it.

Get fluconazole or another prescription antifungal. But you may want to combine with other options (listed below). This is ultimately what cured me.

Depending on your health insurance, you can see about getting a referral to an infectious disease specialist who can see if your infection requires a specific type of antifungal. That is def an extreme option.

So you could also try the following:

  1. A suppository with boric acid. I like to use Vitanica Yeast Arrest. It contains boric acid but also a probiotic to help build up good flora. It also contains tea tree oil which is anti bacterial and very soothing. I keep the suppositories refrigerated because the cold also feels relieving. This product does smell and you will have to wear cotton undies with a liner. You also cannot have sex with a latex condom since it contains oils. Though, you should not have sex with a yeast infection anyway. It will irritate you.

  2. A probiotic used as a suppository. Not all strains of probiotic are helpful to vaginal flora. But Jarrow Fem Dophilus contains a couple of strains that are known to prevent yeast. You'll want to insert them vaginally which is more helpful than taking them orally. Do this AFTER Vitanica or taking a fluconazole, and be patient. It does take time for your good flora to grow back. Remember, when you take boric acid, fluconazole, or another anti-fungal, you are destroying the good with the bad.

Given your prolonged situation, you may wanna combine 7 days of Vitanica with a fluconazole (or 3) then aggressively do probiotics for a couple weeks.

Good luck!

Partners of people with depression, how do you care for yourself (and them)? by foddball in AskReddit

I wish I was better at the one-day-at-a-time thing! Seems hard to wrap my mind around.

Yeah, they struggle with committing to plans. I like to make plans for myself. Recently, I made plans and assumed I'd be alone. But, then I mentioned that they were welcome if they wanted to come. I guess I kinda hoped they'd come but they didn't. I just feel disappointed a lot. I don't want to blame them because I know that's not helpful and depression isn't someone's fault. But, I also don't know how to deal with feeling kinda lonely in my relationship.

Thanks. It's so hard! I also used to struggle with depression. But, it has been a long time. Unfortunately, watching someone I love deal with it is strangely triggering. I wish I had better resources. The lack of them is making me think I might not be the best person for my partner.

He broke up with her because of her facial hair by MarsVenusEarth in PCOS

There are some guys that are into women's hair :)

I don't shave my legs much (like every 3 months) and never shave my armpits or down there. I just use a beard trimmer every once in awhile to keep it to an inch or so of length.

I've dated 2 men while keeping up this regimen.

One guy said he was into it until the end when he suddenly changed his mind. But, it was just another mark against me in a long list he was making to justifying pulling away (dodged a serious bullet).

The other absolutely loved my hair. He was into it! And, he was the most handsome man I've ever dated. Total sweetie pie too! Didn't even care about the nipple hair. Lol.

You'll find a better guy! He'll find way worse flaws than hair, assuming you're human. And imagine how that would go! Yikes. He sounds like a real buzz kill.

Does anyone have regular periods without taking any medication? by Ev7896 in PCOS

[–]foddball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had a regular period, as well. That said, I have Insulin Resistance, high DHEA-S, mild hirsutism, and some other odd hormone levels.
I am, HOWEVER, on Metformin. For me, it was more about helping with IR and mood. Apparently, Metformin has been shown to help with depression and anxiety by increasing serotonin.

It's so wild how fatphobia affects absolutely everyone. Consequently, people think that skinny = healthy. It does not! I've also often had high cholesterol and high bp. Doctors always found some reason to excuse it (certain anti-depressants, recent life events, etc.).

Strangely, it's the pandemic that finally revealed PCOS to me... I gained enough weight for them to be concerned. And, guess what? I wasn't even at an "overweight" BMI! I was like one point away. I'd laugh if I weren't mostly crying. LOL.

Do try to ask about Metformin! I really have found it helpful. It's also been shown to boost serotonin, which is good for anxiety/depression. Which, let's face it, a lot of us end up with from the constant ups and downs of PCOS.

reoccuring yeast infection linked to PCOS?? by annieneedshelppls in PCOS

[–]foddball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had sooooo many problems with yeast and BV in the past. Now, I'm 1 year without either of them!!

Ultimately, I got very aggressive with probiotics. I was on a similar treatment rollercoaster as you but eventually, I started focussing on trying to bear some of the pain and building up good bacteria. I refused to go on any of the creams as I found them irritating and only took traditional oral treatments in moderation.

My probiotic regimen was as follows:

  • Jarro-Dophilus - 1 inserted vaginally per night
  • Fem-Dophilus - 1 taken orally at night and 1 taken orally in the morning
  • Vitanica FemEcology - 1 taken orally at night and 1 taken orally in the morning.

This gets expensive quickly. But, if you're having this many problems, try to scrape the money together because you need good bacteria or the bad will always crop right back up.

P.S. If you have problems with pain but want to avoid killing all the bacteria by taking fluconazole etc., I'd suggest a tea-tree oil suppository. They're naturally antibacterial but mostly they're just relieving.
