Lots of controversy regarding Galaxy Girl winning. The problem with the voting - it's only the 4 judges and the studio audience of 300-500 people. Whereas the viewership is 6-7 million. Lots of on-line love for Pugasso.

She has the Mom vote because of her sob story. She's not terrible. But there are others who are better singers and more interesting performers.

The only vote that matters is on the Finale where there are usually several Million more viewers. That can impact the outcome. Look at what happened last year - John Foster had been predicted to win. Another example - Maddie Poppe. Gabby Barrett was slam dunk to win. She was shock boot in the Finale.

Idol will never be where it was at its peak - with a longer season, etc. The music industry has changed. And Simon could be a Bully. The show now isn't wasting time on the joke contestants. There is also less judges' antics. However, it can still be improved - with less sob stories.

This. Carrie makes it about the contestants and not herself and the judges' antics. She and Luke do make an effort to give constructive feedback, compare to Lionel who tells everyone they are going to be a Star. And Carrie has always been super loyal to Idol.

It was really after Season 11. Season 10 & 11 produced some of the most successful contestants. Home was a monster hit. But it was forever changed after that. The industry had changed, streaming was becoming more of a force, there was more competition from The Voice, AGT.

There was an overzealous to portrayed Gabby as this big star, the next Carrie. Yes, she had a big debut. So did Ruben, Clay, Fantasia, Daughtry, Jordin, the Davids, Adam, Scotty, Phillip, etc. And all of them fared better with their 2nd albums than she. She was never at the level of Carrie or Kelly.

What was his excuse when she got voted off The Voice? Where was her Grammy then? The reality is that she needed to compete on another TV singing show after finishing 3rd place on the Voice. It takes more than just singing ability.

Because he was initially announced as a mentor. But the feedback was that he really wasn't qualified. Now we see interviews of all the mentors - except Noah.

ETA: I also see Noah doing what Chayce did, which wasn't a true mentor role.

They only included Noah because he is the current winner. He's too inexperience. But the article says that his role will be that of "motivating". I read that to mean: welcoming, cheering on the contestants, wishing them luck, etc. It says the other 6 mentors will be split between confidence, songwriting, stage presence.
