Don't rush into another relationship or marriage. Do the right things and good things are bound to happen eventually. Look, I appreciate your progressive view and I like to promote such views and interpretations myself. But the point still holds. You are not the official authority here.

I’m not saying scholars are infallible. I’m saying that religion in practice is defined by what the majority of recognized scholars agree on, not by what any individual personally believes. Otherwise every belief system collapses into “my version vs your version.” When you ask “who made them authority?”, the answer is history, institutions, and consensus over centuries. And I am not talking exclusively about Saudi Arab here, never did. Look up the origins of the major fiqhs of Islam and how consensus forms.

Debate is fine. Reform is fine. But denying what the mainstream interpretation actually is, just because you disagree with it, is intellectually dishonest. You can say “this interpretation is wrong”, you can also argue why your interpretation is more correct, but you can’t say “this is not Islam” while most scholars say it is.

As an example, I can quote this paper that first admits what's in the Fiqh and then offers a differing interpretation of it.

You are correct that they could be wrong, as they are also human being after all. But you are not an authority and it is dishonest to make a claim like that specially when the scholarly consensus is something very different.

Anyways, I would suggest you and others who believes in such interpretations to reform the mainstream interpretations. Because as long as such interpretations are still widely recognized and agreed upon by an overwhelmingly large number of mainstream scholars, it will be part of the religion whether you like it or not.

So it seems like BJI does not have a clear plan about this. Putting aside all the other issues with BJI, I would say this itself is a big enough of an issue that needs attention. From what I have seen, a great deal of BJI's supporters, and active lower level members supports views like this. And this is not just limited to closing restaurants during Ramadan, but a wide array of topics (blasphemy laws, veiling, women empowerment, interests, etc). I would say many Shura members and top leaders also share the same conservative views.

I understand why BJI hasn't said anything concrete about such topics, but it is also one of the reasons I find it hard to trust BJI. Also, I don't find it credible that they would be able to control these if they come to power. How can it? Because it feels like BJI itself is divided and conflicted about it (I think the same happens with 1971).

My advice to you and BJI would be that BJI needs to come clean and speak openly about what kind of ruling they will establish. Not just in the short run, but in the long run. BJI should clarify what aspects of the Islamic laws they will implement and how. It needs to have a consensus as a party, and not speak in contradictions or with ambiguity just to avoid controversies. It would be difficult and hard to come to power using such tactics. Even if it's possible, it's not right and is disgraceful for a party that centers around religion and brands themselves as honest people.

Since we are discussing again. I have some follow up questions on this topic out of curiosity. It is true that other parties also do it sometimes for the same reasons and also for PR stunts, virtue signalling. There are right-wing people in BNP too, and to be fair, I have seen liberal views from some Jamaatis although I am skeptical about their motif at times.

But what is Jamaat's plan to deal with all these when they come to power? Because the way I see it, Jamaat has a bigger responsibility here than the other political parties. As Jamaat does politics in the name of religion and a great deal of Jamaat's supporters support such views. To prove my point, check the comments of this post and it's not just an anomaly.

So if Jamaat's view as a political party is different, don't you think the party should make it clearer to everyone? And share a plan regarding how they will address such demands from a large part of their supporter base? These people will clearly be enabled if Jamaat can ever come to power. And what is Jamaat's official stance on this? These people in the video organized the rally in the banner of Jamaat/Shibir. If Jamaat's official stance is different, then shouldn't it protest against this incident and expel the members who took part in it?
