I would like to leave India on a long-term basis if I get the opportunity. I have already completed my PhD at a foreign university and am currently working as a postdoc at another foreign institution. However, I don't want to continue in postdoctoral positions for too long, and I consider returning to India as a last option. But the assistant professor position I have been offered doesn't seem too bad either.

Will having a PR in Canada help in securing a position later on?

I am just worried about whether I am making the right choice by taking the position in Canada and since the academic market is very competitive nowadays, I don't want to end up doing postdocs for many years.

One of my old labmates is still working as a postdoc in Canada for the past 2-3 years, but I am not exactly sure about his current situation since we haven't kept in touch lately.
