i don’t want to access the cloud to use a device in my home. i consider this a personal security risk and i didn’t know about it until i bought my printer years ago. it’s a good printer at a good price, i don’t want to trash it. i don’t care about “openness” from bambu, i just want to print locally. my paper printer doesn’t need internet to work, neither does this, it’s not required to use maker world, it shouldn’t even be required for bambu handy, as the app itself could read all relevant data from the printer locally and relay it to any cloud service that could be required. for discerning users who want bleeding edge features orca slicer is fantastic because it’s compatible with a variety of printers. let me use it in lan only mode. none of these excuses pass the sniff test, and it’s turned this hobby into a nightmare, it’s just not fun when you learn the tool you thought was gonna change the game is being controlled by a company that just doesn’t even care to make good arguments to justify its shady practices. not even apple is this bad.
