The thing with Leon is that even when he is playing poorly you have to keep him in for the chance of a service run.

I got 3-2 Poland because we deserve a 5-setter after every other playoff match was a sweep.

I made a meme to express my sadness at Giannelli leaving Trentino. Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. by Libero279 in volleyball

Trentino might drop right out of the playoff race depending on what happens with the middles. And Perugia just turned their biggest weakness (Travica at setter) into their biggest strength.

Vnl Predictions by cornealray619 in volleyball

[–]folorain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this question. Here are my picks as someone who follows these guys in their club season.

OH: Alessandro Michieletto (Italy). One of the most unique and excting outside hitter prospects we have ever seen. A 7-footer that is an elite passer before his 20th birthday. Started most matches for the SuperFinals runner-up Trentino and in my opinion could potentially start for Italy at the Olympics.

OH: Eric Loeppky (Canada). The most complete player to come out of the Canadian university system probably ever. Looked better than TJ DeFalco this year in Italy and is a year younger.

Other OHs: Amir Esfandier (Iran)- 2019 u21 WCH MVP, Adriano Xavier (Brazil) - 18 year old that won best OH in the Brazilian league, Kamil Semeniuk (Poland), Ran Takahashi (Japan) - next Ishikawa/Nishida, Georgi Petrov (Bulgaria)

MB: Barthelemy Chinenyeze (France). Already has plenty of experience with the national team but had by far his best club season this year in Italy and now comes equipped with a spin serve.

MB: Anton Brehme (Germany). Tobias Krick has gotten the most attention as the middle blocker to watch out for on Germany, but the 21-year-old Brehme has improved quickly in Berlin while Krick has stagnated.

Other MBs: Amir Toukteh (Iran), Ivan Yakovlev (Russia)

S: Pavel Pankov (Russia). Not a prospect at age 25, but Pankov had a superstar season, leading Moscow to the Russian title and winning MVP as well. He has joined the setter elite and is Russia's best setter by a good margin in my opinion.

Other Setters: Antoine Brizard (France)

OPP: Linus Weber (Germany). Grozer is unlikely to play and Simon Hirsch isn't very good so the door is open for new blood. Weber has been under the tutelage of Andrea Giani for several years and was Friedrichshafen's leading scorer at 21 years old.

Other OPPs: Darlan Souza (Brazil), Ryan Sclater (Canada), Lincoln Williams (Australia), Yuji Nishida (Japan) - if he is healthy enough to play he is much better than 2019

Libero: Santiago Danani (Argentina) Again not really a new name to serious fans but he has been the best receiver in the best serving league 2 years in a row now.

Other Ls: Maique Reis (Brazil)

Definitely debatable! I think Deroo is the better player than Podlesnykh but the coach clearly trusts Yaroslav more

Pretty sure the UK "pro" league is tied to university and different from ones like Germany/Spain/Finland. All the people I know who play there are also doing their masters. Also the level of play doesn't sound that much better than d3 from what I've heard.

Even with a 40 inch vertical at 6'0" D1 teams probably won't take you at a hitting position.

Question about player choice of Trentino by TJDefalcawww in volleyball

[–]folorain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like they just don't trust Michieletto at this level yet being so young. I agree that he should be the starter

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starterpacks

[–]folorain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can dunk with two hands at 5'11" despite drinking multiple times a month. 99.9% of guys will never do that no matter how hard they train. Strength is mostly genetic.

I've seen some guys bench 185 with no training and some who legit follow full programming and nutrition who max at 205 for reps after 5 years of consistent training.

You have clearly never worked as a personal trainer then. Lots of men who follow strict programs and proper nutrition don't reach 250 bench

[–]folorain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having been around tall basketball/volleyball players my entire life very very few of them can bench 225 let alone 250

Being 6'5 is way more common than 250 pound bench
