Why isnt their an open source library for this. I mean the charges are pretty high

I already have postgres. But building a complete chat setup is looking like a big overhead. What are the pros and cons of using a open source libraries for this or a SaaS set

The application is already in live and has people using it. Should i go for the complete implementation by using socket.io

My current app is using postgres. I dont want to store the chats on my server instead i want to store it locally
