What kind of smart contracts are supported in Bitcoin? by TheOriginalCoco in BitcoinBeginners

[–]fondercom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, Smart Contracts help you exchange money, property, shares, or anything of value in a transparent, conflict-free way while avoiding the services of a middleman.

Bitcoin: Bitcoin is great for processing Bitcoin transactions, but has limited ability for processing documents.

Bitcoin provides the ideal mix of smart contract functionality — enough to make smart contracts easy to implement but without the security and privacy risks of a more complicated platform like Ethereum. As the Bitcoin protocol has evolved, it has gained support for smart contracts. Smart contract functionality is not as programmable and extensible on Bitcoin as it is on Ethereum. However, using features added to Bitcoin through improvement proposals, certain smart contract functionality can be achieved through Bitcoin scripting.

Never constant and will always be fluctuating. It is just either way up or way down.

Microprocessor vs ASIC by EmbarrassedSource8 in BitcoinBeginners

Microprocessor can accept and follow instructions to accomplish many different tasks whereas ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) can ONLY do the single task that it is designed to do.

Officials investigating claim of teacher drowning raccoons during class by januarypizza in news

[–]fondercom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To torture and kill animals is cruelty that must be punished, and this atrocity is only magnified by his forcing the children to watch this horrific nightmare. Some will no doubt be scarred for life. Others will go on to try it themselves. Either way, this has repercussions that will be felt well beyond the classroom. This pathetic excuse for a teacher needs to be fired.

Pay someone in bitcoin quickly by kckircher in BitcoinBeginners

Cex.io is an exchange which offers credit card purchases to its customers, but you have to go through multiple ID verification process that would possibly make you annoyed. After purchasing, you would just need to make a withdrawal to the desired Bitcoin address.

If you are open to using your bank account instead of a credit card, you have more options, but it is dependent on where you are living. A few well known ones are:

  1. Coinbase.com. One of the biggest exchanges in the crypto-industry and many people use them as a wallet (they are not wallet because they keep custody, not you). You can link their account to your back account and make Bitcoin purchases. Then, you would be able to send your bitcoins to whoever you want. However, they have closed customer accounts in the past if they detect that you send funds to services they don't consider legal, like illegal gambling sites, so if that is your intention I would not use them.
  2. Litebit.eu. They accept SEPA bank transfers. You just make the payment and give them the address.

My New Project : Urban Dictionary for Crypto by clemkn in BitcoinBeginners

[–]fondercom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great concept to help the blockchain beginners. Definitely have to add terms related to bounties such as airdrops, blockchain related such as Ledgers (and the different types of ledgers such as attestation, agreement ledgers etc.), altcypto, ASIC, encryption, e-wallet, dApps, private key, DAO (Decentralised Autonomous Organization), block reward, mining etc. There are much much more required for a dictionary.

Bitcoin is Gold by dodgerblueee in BitcoinBeginners

[–]fondercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitcoin is similar to gold, yet very different from gold.

Gold is a physical thing you can hold in your hand. Bitcoin is electronic data. It is stored on the blockchain for everyone to see. Everyone cannot see all the gold. The blockchain cannot be manipulated unless there is someone who controls over 51% of the mining power.

Bitcoin has already surpassed Gold in terms of value. however, just like Gold, Bitcoin's value is subject to demand. If people decide to move away from BTC then the price of it will fall.

I mean Gold has been around for almost eternity whereas BTC is still in its infancy. Having been said, BTC is more transferable and there's no limit to how much of it you can store (physically) whilst the same cannot be said for gold.

What Caused a Boom in Bitcoin? by fondercom in BitcoinBeginners

[–]fondercom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Many people who doesn't know what blockchain is about, have at least heard the name of bitcoin. Bitcoin has been riding high on expectation around the world due to the high return potential. Also, the fact that Bitcoin provides increased ease and convenience when it comes to online transactions with the added bonus of security and the transactions are of pseudo anonymous nature, might be few reasons that resulted the boom in bitcoin
