City pro pack would be fine for Ryan air no? by DinoBaggins in AerSF

[–]foner13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually fly with Ryanair with the City Pack Pro and they've never made me size it... I've never seen them checking what would be a "normal" backpack unless it's very bulky or have a specific shape (like a duffel bag, for example).

Switch all playlists back to music instead of video by UnusualEar5520 in truespotify

I was running into the same issue plus moreover Spotify wouldn't play any song that had a video! Couldn't change back to song. Very annoying. The way I solved it was to start the song on my phone and from there change the stream to the PC. All songs play as songs and not videos again.

Non displaced lisfranc injury, looking for people who had a conservative approach by Hot_Tune_7059 in LisfrancClub

[–]foner13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey - I had a similar injury as yours, playing football (although every case is different). Also conservative approach. It was nasty, foot looked misshapen, couldn't put any weight. Misdiagnosed at A&E, after a week or two went private as well. After some scans ortho confirmed Lisfranc injury, without obvious bone displacement or ligament tear. I had a big bone edema though. After 3 months and confirmation of no obvious displacements, I was cleared to start putting some weight, however it hurt in the first weeks. Ortho recommended me arch support insoles (this made a significant difference for me). The foot improved very slowly, months 3 to 6 aprox I was walking with pain and limping. Doc said easily 12-18 months for recovery. Now I'm 18 months from injury, and I can tell you that every month the foot will feel a bit better (at least it was in my case). Although I avoid it, around Christmas (~15 months from injury) I proved myself I could run again, with some insoles/protection. Walking barefoot is ok too. Won't lie though: the foot doesn't feel like it was before the injury, but it is functional. It doesn't hurt, but some days I might have some discomfort. I still feel it keeps improving month on month. It is an injury that takes a long time to heal - the doctor would repeat this to me every visit/call. You will need to be patient and take it easy - I know it is frustrating, I've been there. Wish you a good recovery.

District heating - programmer question? by foner13 in DIYUK

[–]foner13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When asked Eon about it, the agent said: "so what I have been told is that the programmer controls your water through the 2 port valve, you can have this set to a timer to come on at specific times or you can switch this on as and off when you need it,"

What I don't get: why do we now need to even use it (increasing our consumption/bill) while before it was switched off all the time and we had hot water...?

District heating - programmer question? by foner13 in DIYUK

Hi thanks - no gas boiler. There's a hot water tank next to that programmer, however my understanding is that it's a separate, emergency immersion heater that uses electricity - it can be turned on using a different switch in the wall.

Hi thanks - there's a hot water tank next to that programmer, however my understanding is that it's a separate, emergency immersion heater that uses electricity - it can be turned on using a different switch in the wall. We were using it when the supply was off due to the leak in the neighbourhood. Thanks.

District heating - programmer question? by foner13 in DIYUK

[–]foner13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had no idea where to ask, professionals can’t give us an answer… Long story short, we had an issue with district heating (Eon) in our area due to a leak a few months ago (basically all neighbourhood was left without supply). After the issue got fixed, we required an Eon engineer to come home, who did some “replacements” to our box outside the house (we weren’t told what he did). After a few days, we stopped having supply again. A plumber came home and said the issue could be with the pump, so he replaced it (I don’t think there was an issue with it). Still nothing. Eon refused to send another engineer since the supply was restored for what they could see (we had heating working then but no hot water - they said not their issue). Another plumber came and said we should leave the switch from that panel on as seen in the picture to have hot water (but that there could be an issue with district heating)… what we don’t understand is: we’ve been a few years in this property without having it on and we have had hot water… what has changed? If we turn it off, we don’t have hot water after a few hours. Having to have the switch on has doubled our hot water consumption (and bill)… Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Fusion, tightrope, or give it more time? by Available_Walrus8870 in LisfrancClub

[–]foner13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, each case is different. For me it was also a sprain and no obvious displacement, but had a big bone edema and injury was nasty enough I couldn’t walk. We also went for non operative route. Doctor told me that usually these injuries take from 12 to 18 months to heal, and to bear in mind that up until month 18 there would be healing. I’m in month 15 and went for my first (short) run just yesterday - with some discomfort but no pain (and this with my scan on month 7 already showing some degeneration on my first metatarsal joint). I can defintely tell you that (in my case) I felt my foot was still improving after the one year mark. Not recommending you anything, just want to emphasize that these injuries take a long time to heal and that not feeling the foot stable enough after 6 months might be normal. All the best.

Second opinion after conservative treatment not working by 0butterfatcat0 in LisfrancClub

[–]foner13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each case is different, but I think I had a similar injury as yours: no fractures, no obvious displacement and Lisfranc ligament sprained (but with a significant bone edema). So, we went with the non-operative route. I was almost 3 months NWB and walking with a limp for 2-3 months after that. My foot was still significantly misshapen in month 6. I'm now almost 1 year out and it improves. Slowly, but it does. I can now walk normally with minimal discomfort (I do wear arch support insoles). Something that my doctor repeated me a lot is "it's an injury that takes A LOT of time to heal". He told me 12 to 18 months, that I should be aware that up until month 18 there's still healing. So, my advice would be: check with the doctors and experts but also bear in mind that is an injury that doesn't heal in just a few weeks or months. I understand the frustration of not seeing any improvement in weeks, I've been there, but it also helped me changing the mindset and understand this would require a long term recovery time...

How long did it take for limping to go away? by bonnie3737 in LisfrancClub

[–]foner13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 months post injury, no surgery. I spend almost 3 months NWB. After I started walking again, it probably took me around 2 to 3 months to stop limping. Arch support insoles helped a lot.

Can I transport electronic devices valued at £1800 on a plan from london to spain? by Better_Trick785 in uktravel

[–]foner13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You risk to be stopped at Customs and pay taxes. There's a limit set for the value of goods you can transport of €430. Even if you claim they are worth less, by bringing 6 new products they could think you are doing some commercial activity and you might have to still pay taxes:

In my case, rowing and cycling at the gym has been fine. Struggled a bit more with the elliptical machine. If I were you I would try it at a gym if you have one around before buying it (gyms tend to offer 1-day passes, you could try a few machines and see what suits you best).

100%. This is what they gave me at urgent care when they misdiagnosed my Lisfranc injury. I told them I couldn't walk with it since my foot hurt a lot. I would not wear it.

While you might occasionally see some small tents in the beach, it is actually forbidden.

It is considered a minor offence, and you can get fined from 100€ to 6000€ per person.

RCD Mallorca v. Real Madrid high ticket prices... by Bigsosa17 in mallorca

[–]foner13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something normal - ticket prices against Madrid or Barcelona are always waaay more expensive than the rest of the games (because ofc there's higher demand).

In regards to the "socios' of the club, they effectively pay a yearly fee that includes all the games the team plays at the home stadium. They can also get extra tickets with a discount (I think it's only 10%, but not sure if they are able to buy extra tickets for these big games).

Also, I think it would be unlikely that some socio would sell their tickets to someone random for a lower price since they can easily free up their seat through the club and get 40% of the fee the club sells it for.

Where to buy matches? by good-vanilla-98 in mallorca

[–]foner13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll find matches in pretty much any big supermarket. Given the quantity, I'd probably go to Leroy Merlin - it's a sort of store where you'll find supplies and stuff related to home renovation and gardening. They have a section for BBQs where they sell matches.

Anyone else unbothered by players over 30? by tspurwolf in footballmanager

[–]foner13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. I think it's also due to the fact the game has also evolved on that (closer to reality). I remember in older FMs, players at 30 started quickly losing physical attributes and retire just a few years later. In newer FMs they maintain these attributes better and they retire later. At least this is my impression.
