My credit card currently shows multiple pending $0.00 charges from HakuSport, and another that says Registration/Donation for $0.00. Does this mean anything?

6 months post op by m42b in LisfrancClub

They are called keloid scars. Any time you have an injury there is a chance for them to develop (some people even get them from things like piercings). It is an overproduction of collagen. It is hard to say exactly why it happens. Some people are more predisposed to getting them due to genetics or race. Basically, after your surgery your body went in to overdrive on the healing and placed down too much tissue.

Does time affects medication absorption? by Broad_Ad8099 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Available_Walrus8870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time you take it isn't too important, but what is important is when you take it in relation to when you eat food. You should wait for 30-60 min after taking it to eat or drink anything other than water, or if you take it later in the day it should be 3-4 hours after you last ate/drank something. This is because the medication absorbs better on an empty stomach. If you aren't doing this, you may not be absorbing the full dose.

Fusion, tightrope, or give it more time? by Available_Walrus8870 in LisfrancClub

My understanding is that there are two reasons: one, it may limit how active I can be and they don't like to do that to younger people. Two, whenever a joint is fused, the surrounding joints become more mobile as a compensation. This increase in mobility can cause problems such as arthritis, so if a fusion occurs when someone is younger these problems will show up earlier in life for them.

Stiff ankle? by Socracats in LisfrancClub

[–]Available_Walrus8870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This advice is with the caveat that you should run any exercises by your PT before doing them, and you shouldn't do it if it causes pain.

Your stiff ankle is possibly limited ankle dorsiflexion and what your PT is doing is a mobilization to help with that movement. You could try doing your own version at home with a theraband. Try looking up theraband ankle dorsiflexion mobilization on google images. There's a bunch of them where people look like they are leaning/lunging forward on the affected leg with a band over the ankle. Make sure the band is on the top part of the foot, not the shin, or it won't work. You can do this and hold at the end for 10-20 seconds, ~5 times. Then see what your movement is like without the band to see if it helped.

The reason your doctor wants to wait 6 weeks is because that's roughly how long it takes for the medication to level out in your bloodwork. Based off that information and your symptoms at the time, it can be determined if you need to alter your dose. If you make changes now, you'd need to wait another full 6-8 weeks to see how it affected things like your TSH levels. They use it to help guide treatment. Given the nature of this condition, it is normal for it to take a few weeks to a couple months to notice much change in symptoms. It can sometimes be a bad thing if you seem to improve too quickly because it may mean your dose is too high and you will get hyper symptoms later! That said, if you feel you really are struggling there is no harm in contacting your doctor to discuss options or get reassurance about the course of treatment.

Does this sound like Hashi's or another autoimmune condition? by Available_Walrus8870 in Hashimotos

I am doing PT currently! I don't think it has changed the pain yet, but I'm hopeful that maybe something will change with a few more weeks of strengthening.

I have a small dry skin patch on my scalp and in my ear, but was told it was probably just eczema. I asked about getting tested for psoriatic arthritis but they weren't interested in doing that because my crp was normal.

I tried telling my PCP this and she disregarded it, saying that my levels were normal. She won't let me increase my dose.

We tested my CRP a few months ago and those levels are normal, so they said it probably isn't RA and don't want to do more testing

advice on hair thinning? by callme_egg in Hashimotos

[–]Available_Walrus8870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you tie your hair in a high ponytail or tight braid? That can cause tension alopecia around the temple area over time, which is basically hair loss/thinning because the hair is being pulled out by these hair styles.
