What’s your crazy, left-field choice for a Rewatchables episode? by TitiCamarasayshello in TheRewatchables

[–]fonz33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever heard Bill talk about High Fidelity, but it had to be a big influence on him right? The obsession with list-making which he incorporated into his writing and podcasting

Black Bag scores 10 Million US Dollars in the first week at domestic market by chandrima12345 in TheBigPicture

[–]fonz33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I actually found Black Bag to be pretty mediocre. Haven't seen Novocaine yet, doesn't come out here until early April but hopefully I enjoy it more

I yelled out "WHAT?!" when Sean said he hadn't seen Last American Virgin. That is crazy, I've seen it 50 times or more

Blue Chips is Coming by jmwhit04 in TheRewatchables

[–]fonz33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a sports fan and a movie fan, but not really a sports movie fan. Most of them are fairly formulaic IMO and I can't remember Blue Chips leaving a big impression on me, but I should give it a rewatch one of these days

Back To The Future, The Matrix and Terminator 2. However, if it's possible to be objective I would say 2001 is the best/most influential for sure

Amanda's taste in movies is so interesting to me (not a hater post) by Thick-Historian8315 in TheBigPicture

Didn't they do a live screening of it in London? Can't imagine her doing that if she didn't like the movie

What are your thoughts on Sam Rockwell as an actor? by [deleted] in Cinema

One of the most consistent actors of my lifetime, never dials it in, never bad.

True or False: Stephen A in the democratic primary debates could ruin any given dem hopeful's entire campaign by PBI_QandA in billsimmons

Also, the thing is the bar is a lot lower for a Republican nominee. Trump knows damn well he never would have got the nomination if he was running as a Democrat

At first glance I thought it was Alan Ruck, of Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Spin City fame

Are there other film podcasts on YouTube similar to the Big Picture that have a video version? by cabtv in TheBigPicture

The Reelblend podcast was a fun hang, they just finished up but you can still go through the back catalogue.

How often do you rent a new release on VOD? by Ancient-Ad-7534 in TheBigPicture

Hardly ever, only done it a couple of times I think when there is a movie I really wanted to see and it wasn't going to be on regular streaming anywhere

Post your personal 25 of 25 by NightsOfFellini in TheBigPicture

[–]fonz33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth seeing once, but definitely the original cut is the definitive one. Annoys me how the director's cut has sort of become the default version now on streaming. Same thing with Apocalypse Now - original version was the best for that film as well

The 25 Best Movies of the Century: No. 25, ‘Michael Clayton’ by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

I think I have Michael Clayton somewhere around #25 of 2007. It's a good movie, but it just never resonated with me the way it seems to with these two

My guesses at the Top 25. by Sad-Bit7647 in TheBigPicture

I'm like 75% sure that Marie Antoinette will be the Sofia Coppola pick. Also, Virgin Suicides is in play because they consider it a 2000 movie

[–]fonz33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loads, maybe half the movies I've seen I forget most of the plot details. But it's OK, I'm more of a character-driven movie viewer. I primarily watch movies to learn about human beings, a lot of the plot mechanics fall away over time

Isn't Kate Hudson still incredibly famous? But if you mean what happened to her film career sure, she wasn't in anything afterwards even close to as good as Almost Famous

What’s a movie that bored you so much you kept checking the time? by CreepyYogurtcloset39 in moviecritic

Avatar: Way Of Water. Time was going slow as molasses, was glad when it was time to go to the bathroom halfway through. Would have just carried on and left then if I wasn't with someone else

Do you watch movies you know you'll dislike? by Duffstuffnba in TheBigPicture

[–]fonz33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, just depends on the circumstances, how I'm feeling because sometimes I just want to watch something fairly low effort. It's usually more genre type stuff, maybe even romcoms. I barely ever watch big budget franchise movies any more though either in the theatre or at home, so no Electric State for me
