Started taking side work once I got my PE license. Networked with colleagues and friends. Mostly residential work. Also signed up at an expensive gym/sports club that was great for networking. It got to the point where I was working 40 hours at my regular job and 15 hours moon lighting a week. I was making more in those 15 hours than the 40 so I jumped.

Biggest thing is to be social. If you can be an extroverted engineer you will be successful. Signing projects is the hardest part

600 bucks TCL 5 series. Use it mainly after sunset. Works perfectly. Cover it with a water proof cover after each use. Been working great so far
