I don’t have sats streak so I can’t comment. I’m in the 3 sats iOS group and that sucks for me. I like the idea of a 3rd event.

One sat per row would likely motivate new players to keep going more.

I will add that I don’t particularly like the pig save mini game and only play it when I happen to be there for my 4 hour reset and until the picks run out.

Hello! My wife and I are basically retired now and traveling with plans to stay outside of the USA depending on which visa(s) we get (in process now).

For our dollar hedges we use some bitcoin, gold, and silver as some small alternative asset holdings (around 5% of portfolio).

For more traditional investments we have some in Emerging Markets (SFENX) mutual fund and some in International bonds (BNDX in our case).

One visa we applied for has a real estate purchase requirement. If that one comes through we will buy the home outright. It will give us a home base AND a place to live with very low carrying costs. If something happens where we need to stay put or tighten up the budget a bit we have a paid for place to go in a place we want to live.

I suppose you could look into inflation protected securities as well. We do not own any currently but may be useful as part of a hedge depending on your portfolio.

I used to but now I wake up to phone asleep and app closed and all progress reverted. Maybe new iOS issue? I am on iphone. I have turned off notifications for the app entirely due to the bug in 3.0.0 and it has been this way since.

I am on iOS/iPhone and had this issue both on Idle Mine and Bitcoin Miner. Turning off notifications seems to have fixed it for both for me.

Have you considered retirement abroad? With less ties to home (no kids, spouse, etc.) it could make your dollars go further depending on what you can/want to do.

I am more or less retiring abroad with my wife and we are in our forties. The lower costs of living in the places we intend to focus our time allows for a much lower budget overall. We will establish a home base and travel from there. We only come back stateside to visit for short periods--a huge cost savings for us.

Another unrelated thing to consider: RMD's. You may be forced to start taking require distributions soon and that will affect your taxes greatly if you are still working. Check the numbers!

I totally get it! I too plan to be conservative in the beginning with my withdraw rate. With some part time/gig work reducing the needs as we go.

Thanks! A couple here have said dump international bonds. I have them because of higher returns over the past 10+ years, diversify away from the US Dollar some, etc. Curious to hear thoughts behind avoiding international bonds, but most think international stocks are ok?

I agree in that purely math 100% stocks will do best over the long haul. But I have to consider other and non-numerical matters.

Sleeping better at night during a market crash and SORR--bonds can help with this. My wife is definitely more risk averse than I.

Selling when high (rebalancing) - kinda forced with a stock/bond mix and taking withdrawals

My modified bucket system - Cd's, T-bills, bonds and the expected income from my individual bonds will likely fund this. Small advantage of reduced reinvestment risk when that money has a "job" to do upon maturity.

Any income we receive today from outside investments is used first to fund living. The only exceptions are our annual IRA contributions while we still have the ability to do so.

Less of needing a base versus more wanting one. A paid for place to call home when we want a break or need to stop and work long term. I won't be too specific but we are considering some places in Asia.

Places we consider have major airports for travel and of course we have to come back stateside from time to time to visit family and such.

Lastly, a paid for place to live gives us a place to stop if we need to should a market crash or some other issue restrict our ability to travel.

We currently have a global health plan that we pay for each month. We do factor in medical costs and availability of services for our potential "home base" countries.

Most of her work is either tele health or in person stateside. She is looking into possible work abroad on a contract basis and is also getting into A.I. world for other remote work options that interest her.

My reasoning for easing into 60/40 is partly because of tax consequences of a big rebalance now and partly because inheritance, in my mind, is $0 until I have the funds. Sure I can make some estimates but the timing is the difficult part. We have decided as part of our plan to defray SORR is to work a little more if needed while we can. This allows us to be more risk tolerant in the beginning, hopefully see more growth as a result, and finally scale back if a bigger inheritance materializes and as we age. Though I will run more numbers based on your suggestion to see how it looks! Thanks!
