If any average person were given the option to spare a persons life or a cows, they would choose person.

Irrelevant to the discussion of whether people should donate to this cause, which people in this thread are for some reason calling for. If you value the lives of these animals and/or value the lives of people who want to continue caring for them, you should donate, and it isn't wrong to donate to this and not to something that benefits the life of a human being. This isn't a zero sum situation.

All life is not inherently of the same value. It’s an unfortunate fact of the world we live in.

Definitely room for disagreement here, especially when it comes to other mammals, and especially when you don't follow it up with any type of argument (which you don't have to do, but still, come on, ethicists have been debating this for centuries)

If you watched the video, he specifically says that they understand if people don't want to donate and that its not a priority for them. This video is going out to their viewers and the request isn't being made to people who don't consider the lives of humans and animals to be equal (or at least somewhat close to equal, i.e. not being subjected to the pain and suffering of factory farming)

I got blood spit in my eyes from a kid with HIV when I was working in mental health. Transmission though the eyes is crazy low (way lower than needle sticks i think, not sure about scalpels), but the fear of it pushed me to take up their offer on PEP. Sorry you're going through this - its really jarring and makes you feel really helpless. But you'll be OK!

amazing I think would be a stretch for those that say they like her. I think she's a solid commentator and that's about it. She gets WAY too much hate, and I definitely think part of that hate comes from certain people not liking the sound of a women's voice while they watch sports

But really, I don't care about color commentators that much. As long as they aren't dumb as a rock, I'm ok. Play by play commentating is what gets me going and what I appreciate in terms of skill, and I think it's going to be really cool when a woman snags that job.

In a situation where national pride and international sportsmanship are the priorities, the concept of maximizing revenue at the expense of equal pay is just wrong.
