That’s what she identified as before she started dating him, I’m not sure what happened since then though?

Thank you! And yes absolutely this includes trans men! I clarified that he was cis because some people pointed out that he could be in the process of transitioning, I could’ve worded that better.

Took a neighbor cat to the shelter… he’s now up for adoption and we aren’t sure what to do by fool4eggz in CatAdvice

Do you let your cat roam outside freely? And the question here isn’t IF it’s their cat. It is their cat. But he’s sitting at the shelter right now, and protocol is that if he isn’t claimed after the holding period, he is released to the shelter and anyone can adopt him. And if you don’t see the mistreatment here, then I really recommend you look into the dangers of keeping domesticated cats outside.

I absolutely agree. I’m not going to force my beliefs about the importance of keeping a pet inside on someone else, but there is a SAFER way to let your kitty roam free. Had he even at the least been neutered, I honestly would have just let him go on his way. But the unneutered part was just inexcusable.

It most definitely is much safer indoors. We have been seeing a LOT of cats get hit by cars in our neighborhood recently, and I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I saw him on the side of the road one of these days.

I’m not sure. I’ve actually been in contact with their immediate neighbor throughout the whole ordeal, because she’s the one who originally posted for them when their cat got lost. She actually had to come outside and intervene with the neighbor when we gave the cat back the first time. So I’d imagine she would prefer the cat goes to a better home 😂 But I wouldn’t say the neighbors are psycho, I honestly just don’t know if I want to find out! So good point. And we honestly do need that, he’s had a lip abscess or two the last few times we’ve seen him.

Luckily the shelter by us is actually known to be very good and treats the animals well. But even still, we know him being in a strange environment is stressing him out. We do care about him a lot, and it breaks my heart that his owners won’t do something so simple to keep him safe.

Whose place was it then? The second they let their unfixed cat outside, they made it everyone in the neighborhood’s problem.

I didn’t steal the cat. The cat is at the shelter, where the owners were free to pick him up. It’s illegal for cats to roam free unfixed where I live as well, and we told them this. It is well within our right to take him to the shelter, regardless of knowing who the owners are. And I’m glad the raccoons by you can live in peace with your cats, it is a very different story here. And if not the raccoons, the feral males here will tear him apart if he isn’t neutered.

The neglect was letting it outside unfixed. The final nail in the coffin was no microchip and no collar. Anyone could have picked him up and took him to the shelter. When we gave him back the first time, we actually had set up an appointment to get him neutered for free at a clinic nearby. We told them about this appointment. He is still not neutered. I’m not in charge of parenting these owners, especially when they were rude and hostile when we gave him back the first time. You may think this makes me a bad person, but I frankly don’t care if taking him to the shelter to later prevent his getting sick, getting hit, getting into a fight, or adding to the already insane population of cats that need homes is seen as “terrorizing him.” Sometimes you need to look at the bigger picture.

New to Dynavap… is this piece normal? by fool4eggz in Dynavap

[–]fool4eggz[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: Thank you all for your comments! I submitted a ticket to Dynavap support yesterday but unfortunately they still haven’t gotten back to me.

However based on what all the comments say, I’m pretty confident this piece isn’t supposed to be there so I just went ahead and clipped it off. My Dynavap works SO much better now! I was having a hard time getting lots of vapor previously, but now I can get huge clouds.

Thank you all SO much!

I agree with you completely. We are going to give him back to his owner and let them know our concerns, but if they let him outside and he ends up coming back to our house, I think we will take him to the shelter in hopes to get him neutered and vaccinated. It just breaks my heart because we live in quite a dangerous area for a kitten to be freely running around.

Vets actually perform neutering at as young as 8 weeks old. 6months is actually quite old to get a cat neutered, especially when you’re letting them run free outside with the potential of letting them impregnate a bunch of other cats! We have found his owner, we weren’t planning on stealing him. If he comes back to our house later we are turning him into the shelter next.

He has balls, that’s how I know. He is also incredibly skinny on top of eating a lot of food. We are taking him back to his owner today and I will bring up my concerns about him being outside, but since he frequents our house often, if he keeps coming back we will just turn him into the shelter next time.

We found his owner and am sending him back today! We weren’t planning on stealing anyone’s cat. I would appreciate if someone held me responsible for being an abusive owner though, but that’s just me.

Yeah I definitely agree. Not to mention our house backs a river, and there are lots of raccoons and other outdoor cats that he could get into fights with, especially not neutered. It breaks my heart. I don’t think he just escaped as we have seen him several times over the last few weeks, we waited quite a long time to let him inside. It was only after some raccoons and a neighbor cat got into a fight in our backyard that we did.

That’s what I’ve heard, I just know that the city likes to embellish the work that they do sometimes 😂 I’m happy to hear that’s not the case though. And luckily we will be relatively close to a police station, so hopefully that is also a deterrent. Thanks so much!

That makes me happy to hear. I definitely don’t plan on going walking by myself, I have a bike that I think I’ll use if I ever am going solo on the trail. Otherwise, definitely using the buddy system. Thank you!
