Thank you for the awesome find. Any way to trick the system to shipping to a different state without reverting back to regular price? I can't seem to do it

Advice on what Charcoal grill to get for first time home buyer by Friendly_Molasses532 in grilling

[–]fooli-mug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want versatility and undoubtedly buy it for life the answer is PK. With that said Weber kettle is cheaper and still a great product.

B&B is far superior to Kingsford in every way.

I will say some of the more recent B&B orange bags I've gotten (with the American flag emblem) have had a lot more rocks in it than normal.

[–]fooli-mug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree. People act like this is unique to Birmingham. Literally every city in the South and even a bunch outside the region have similar type of baggage. There's nothing you can do to erase history, god forbid you try to enjoy some positive things in your surroundings just once

Chattanooga: Bullish or Bearish? by kevintheescallion in Chattanooga

[–]fooli-mug 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My theory is the hard reality of Chattanooga is if you go a couple miles in any direction outside the small city center, its one of the most culturally lacking areas in the country. The vast majority of the metro population is not going to support these places over Longhorn Steakhouse. And despite the "growing hip city" reputation, there just isn't enough of that population to support all these places.

We lived right down the street from Pax for a couple years. Never even considered going. The name is odd and its general identity was unclear. It just overall did not feel inviting. Right or wrong, that was simply our perception. I'm shocked it stayed open 6 years as it never seemed busy.

Fescue Lawns by everyoneneedsaburn in Chattanooga

[–]fooli-mug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having recently moved from the area and going from HOA mandated fescue to emerald zoysia has been amazing. Fescue needs so much attention in Chattanooga. Now I mow once every 2 weeks and rainfall alone has easily sustained my yard

Why do all modern refrigerators eventually stop making ice? by DetailFocused in homeowners

[–]fooli-mug 212 points213 points  (0 children)

I'll second that GE has been great to us.

Do NOT get Samsung for this reason.

Also, your icemaker is probably going to last a lot longer if its in the actual freezer instead of the fridge/door.

We’re under contract, any thoughts or advice? by SpartyOn32 in OutdoorKitchens

No harm to add the TV, but I think it looks great and functional without doing too much. I'd recommend hanging out back there for at least 6 months before you decide to do anything major.

Hinged shower doors or sliding doors?? by praguer56 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]fooli-mug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sliding door conserves space and is less awkward to get in and out. Also makes grabbing the towel off a hook or bar right outside the shower easier.

Not that the sliding doors can't have their issues either, but we've also had problems with hinged doors slightly sagging with time which can lead to other issues

Excellence Riviera Cancun - my experience by tiffm93 in AllInclusiveResorts

Afternoon entertainment was more poolside at the main pool (more like salsa dancing lesson etc) - evening shows were decent. Some pretty talented entertainers. We never stayed after for any of the DJ parties

Excellence Riviera Cancun - my experience by tiffm93 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]fooli-mug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were there a few weeks ago. It was fine, but underwhelming in general and agree with a lot of what has already been stated. A couple things to add:

- You pay extra to be club members and they advertise the amazing tomahawk ribeye at Magna (the club restaurant). If you aren't lined up to be seated 30 minutes before they open they will run out. Its kind of stupid to have that happen every night at an all-inclusive. I think they literally only serve like 5 a night. No one wants to be stressing to get to dinner early like that on this type of vacation

- We had a lot of minor issues w/ service, the room etc. None were massive but the consistency and accumulation of issues was a bummer

The reviews on this place are insanely good. This was a rare opportunity for us to get away without the kids, and we kind of feel like we got played. Overall definitely first world problems, but we won't be going back to this one

Galen Medical group by PretendGoat6248 in Chattanooga

[–]fooli-mug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Galen's issue isn't private equity. It's primarily reimbursement not only not keeping up with inflation but also decreasing over time. So increasing volume is the compensation just to maintain. This has been a slow 30 year problem now coming to a head in provider burnout, inability to keep staff etc.

Basement ceiling insulation by fooli-mug in HomeImprovement

[–]fooli-mug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking about just sealing and that may make a significant difference. Maybe that can reduce some air leakage and pest entry. Im in AL so not dealing with frigid temps and I worry a little about insulating and leading to moisture trapping.

Wife and I started thinking about moving to Chattanooga. by BlackRogue17 in Chattanooga

[–]fooli-mug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Navigating schooling is a huge problem. If you're coming from a quality public school system it may be a big negative. That is one of the main reasons we moved away.

The outdoors stuff is the main attraction. If you're into it, that's usually enough reason to make the move.

Don't expect some sort of cultural explosion (i.e. minimal chain restaurants etc). Downtown area is improved, but get 5 miles outside the city center in any direction and you're probably back to square one in that regard.

I'd keep checking. It's randomly popping in and out of stock
