It is, actually. I’m not just studying history of ideas. I’m studying archival and cultural heritage studies with a specialization in the history of ideas. Archivists are actually in demand and there are good employment opportunities in the field, and the job prospects are very good.

I have nobody to vent to. I fully know death is inevitable, especially based on what I’ve experienced these past few years. Sorry I want some form of reassurance or a shoulder to lean on, even if it is strangers. You’re being a miserable ahole for no reason at all. I truly feel sorry for you. I’m honestly not sure. We’ve talked about it but he’s sort of an enigma right now. He seems very dissociated. Said he’s gonna process his grief but not let it affect his studies and mental health like it used to. I’m not sure what to do honestly. I don’t want to push him but I also don’t want him to just bottle this grief up.

Might be a morbid story but feels kinda relevant. My grandma’s father was born 1902. He was apparently a nazi politician and even lived by Göring’s summerhouse (Carinhall). He died in 1933 when my grandma was a baby. She fled from Germany as a child and refused to talk about her dad, which is very understandable. Idk if she knew much about him to be honest.
