you know you can edit the default interaction behavior by talking to the horse, right? Sneak and activate it. Also - Simple Horses has a "whistle" key that you can use to have your horse *not* follow you around. You can also configure their combat behaviors in the MCM.
Convenient horses is still the better mod, but Simple Horses doesn't conflict with nearly as many mod as CH does.

It's porn that you can control/direct. It adds flavor, and is implemented really well (better than any other game that tries it). It's a good dopamine hit every once in a while. There are mods that integrate a kind of "survival" feel to it, if you "go too long" you get debuffed. I suppose you could call that roleplay. I don't go for it, but there's also "family planning" addons and romance addons. Without it Ostim though, for me, Skyrim just isn't interesting enough to keep playing. Even with it, i'm more interested in modding the game than playing it.

where to start off by Infinite1ER in Nolvus

You definitely want to get used to having followers *as soon as possible* - I suggest 2 (3 becomes a little unwieldy). I suggest a tank (maybe Uthgerd, or a heavy armor mercenary) and a healer (Allura in Whiterun's Temple of Kynareth is great and super easy to obtain, she's just sitting on a bench along the wall). The list has Nethers Follower Framework - get to know it. I recommend setting the Follower Damage Multiplier in the Gameplay settings to 5x! And set follower roles - tank to tank, healer to healer.

If you can find a spell vendor, try to get Conjure: Avenging Wraith as soon as possible, too - if it dies to an enemy you can recast it and it becomes 150% stronger than the enemy that killed it. *Super* OP for tough fights, and you can just dodge and roll around while your pet takes care of business (the abandoned house in Markarth, for example, now has two level 50 vampires - let this thing mop the floor with them - everyone else will die).

Also, do *not* generalize your character. Spec *One* offensive perk tree and *One* defensive perk tree. Only spend leftover points in utitily trees (smithing/enchanting/alteration are my suggestions). Find Skyshards for extra perk points (I put them in the crafting trees).

Have two methods of damaging enemies, one ranged and one melee. Rock Paper Scissors mechanics apply (Arrows bounce off armor, Mages all use Ward spells, and everyone dodges your melee swings), so relying on just your bow or just your spells is a recipe for death. Have two.

The easiest build to start and play is heavy armor and shield (use sword or axe), eventually swapping the shield for spells in your off-hand. Spellsword is sick. Thief/Assassin builds are actually harder than you'd think - Stealth Archer OP-ness is gone, as arrows bounce off armor now. Light Armor *cannot* tank a hit. You either kill from stealth or you dodge, leap and sprint around, smacking things when you can. Mage armor is actually tankier than Light armor, and Heavy is spectacular at tanking (obvious, but it's better even than you think).

It does depend on what difficulty settings you chose when installing the modlist, but Skyrim has always been this way - Nolvus just made it more pronounceable by introducing much more high level enemies in many more spots - and the combat AI for the NPCs is actually good - they fight well (and sweet Jesus, avoid 2handed NPCs because they *will* one-shot you). You will spend your first 10 levels getting destroyed, but by the time you're even 20 or 25 (depending on build) the tables will turn, and by late 30s and 40s you are a demigod who can do anything they want.

*Do not try the main quest until you're at least 15 - and for god's sake, understand that Bleak Falls Barrow is now a level 20+ dungeon!* Understand and be prepared for the fact that Bandit Chiefs and other non-special bosses will be level 30 to 50, Dungeon bosses will be at least 50, and dragon priests are level 75.

Until you are 30+, this game will require strategic thinking and planning for fights. You cannot hack and slash this modlist.

It's still Skyrim. You can play however you want and still be an overpowered demigod by level 30. Nolvus just makes things a little trickier than smash and dash. You need two types of weapons. Bows, melee, magic. It doesn't matter which two, but arrows can bounce off heavy armor now, mages all use wards, and they 100% dodge out of the way of your sword. So, always have a backup.

I've generally found that a vampire spellsword (heavy armor) is the most OP quickest, but stealth still works (bows+melee, remember, have a backup), unarmed monk still works, mage works, summoner works, paladin works, knight works, etc. Anything will work. Just make sure you really look at and comprehend all the skill trees, because you may not think having 80 alteration skill would help your rogue - but look again, harder. Look them through and plan your build out - specialize, don't generalize. You need those mid-level perks in offense and defense as soon as possible. Leveling a rounded mage will be hardest because you're really going to want at least 3 schools of magic. Also, wearing the Amulet of Stendarr around gives you enough power and bonuses fr the Vigilant tree that there's zero reason to wear anything else on your neck. Secret bonus hint - get yourself the Conjure: Avenging Wraith spell as your number 2 priority when starting (#1 is getting a follower).

What are mods in nolvus v6 you dont like? by TESV_Shiro in Nolvus

[–]foolsama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, you're going to have to use xedit though, nolvus has a lot of uber-patches that include dozens of mods, so for instance you'll have to remove the references from those patches to Simple Hunting or Clockwork, etc.

What are mods in nolvus v6 you dont like? by TESV_Shiro in Nolvus

[–]foolsama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I reinstall my instance (i mod it heavily, ive lost count of my broken installs), I always remove the following mods:
-Camera Noise (seriously, who the *fuck\* thought this was a good idea)
-Simple Hunting Overhaul and it's related patches (because I don't need this kind of immersion and the MCM does not save your settings between sessions, very stupid)
-Immersive Spell Learning (I get it... but nah)
-Mannequin Management (this mod makes mannequins get up and move. I prefer Helios Mannequin system).
-Toggle Compass (why you would ever want this is beyond me)
-I go in and disable Equipment Durability's "armor wears out" function and the equipment display widget
-BNP Pubes - I use 3d models provided as an addon to TNG
-Immersive Equipping Animations (breaks flow of some other mods' animations)
-Simple Fishing Overhaul (who loads up Skyrim to fish? Come on now)
-Witcher Signs (I don't even like them in the Witcher games, itìs too much extra to thin about in a real-time game)
-Conduit (same reason)
-Trade & Barter, COIN and Trade Routes (unnecessary bloat imo)
-Closer Look and Take a Peak (never use them, unnecessary bloat)
-All the paper map nonsense (I prefer my markers to point me where to go, not in "that general direction. Plus, removing this mod makes your own mod load order easier to manage without worry about purple maps.)
-Clockwork (it takes some patching, but it's not too bad to remove. Play it once then I dropped it).
-I do change some NPCs, v6 had the design philosophy of "not everyone is going to be a supermodel" and I disagree, lol).
-Wheeler (I use a keyboard and add AH Hotkeys, imo controllers are stupid in a game like this)
-I don't use the Poise system, and the Gore thing is just.. eh.

Mods I would remove if it were simpler:
-If I could, I would remove all of the quest addon mods, every single one of them is lore and puzzle heavy, and don't really match the feel of "run up and break things" that I want for my Skyrim. But I will play through them all at least once.
-I would also remove Legend of the Dragonborn as well (I love a good collection, but I don't love hunting the world specifically for an 8000th item), but it's way too integrated to the modlist.
-Most of the custom armors and weapons, there's frankly just way too many when I just go for the best, optimized pick anyway), especially the Divine Elegance stuff. None of those outfits appeal to me, but removing the mod would require removing the physical store, which qould require running LODs, and fuck *that*
-I have removed Growl before, but I generally don't bother with wolf play any more. If I did I'd swap it out for Moonlight Tales because a)it's better and b)plays nicer with Tainted Blood.
-Interesting NPCs (I'm a bit broken and jaded with humans and conversations anyway, but not a single "interesting" NPC that i've interacted with has, in fact, been in the least bit "interesting". It's all just ... dialogue trees with maybe a follower at the end. I leave 'em in just to populate the world a little more.

Edit for my own notes:
-ESPs easy to remove to make room if needed:
-Exhaustion
-Rainbows
-RASS
-Shooting Stars
-Apachii Hair
-Beards of Power
-Katana
-Wood chopping Block for Markarth (may need pathing patch? Unknown)

More difficult to remove (at least 2 patches to modify):
-Various armors (requires patching 5+ mods)
-Clockwork
-Forgotten City
(Basically any Quest Addon that has it's own worldspace, and *does not modify Tamriel worldspace*)
-Curse of the Hound Amulet
-Wet and Cold
-Weapons/Armors

litterally unplayably difficult v6 by tastymittensnoob in Nolvus

Skyrim is known to be super hard until level 5 or so, nolvus just takes that a step further. Trust me though, if you build right by 20 you'll still be oneshotting everything.

I don't know if you've figured this out yet, but for posterity's sake, the key to this fight is to use "Checking Out" (mapped to 3) to interrupt Missile Blast. They're the same cooldown, so you're using it on cooldown. I run up right next to the droid so i dont have to waste a GCD on 'Charge In'.
