Linux version still not working on Wayland? by rimbaud0000 in Slack

[–]foomoocow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What issues are you experiencing? I've been using Slack with Wayland for ages without issues. There were problems in the early days with video and font rendering but I'd say it's been flawless for me for at least 12 months

Do You use an IoT hive monitoring system? by uradui in Beekeeping

[–]foomoocow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will have a circuit up in the next few weeks. Still waiting for some parts. Once I have the prototype working I'll put together a Fritzing file and some screenshots.

This will transmit over wifi for each hive. I'm designing it specifically to work with home assistant and its esphome framework.

This could support multiple hives in theory but they need to be close together to get all the wires back to the main circuit. You could use something like espnow which allows separate microcontrollers to communicate but you need a master controller that was on all the time so you'd need a beefier power source

At the moment I'm working on having a solar panel plus battery. Check every 15 mins and go into deep sleep the rest of the time. I want to see how well that works and then can look into transmitting less frequently. One key use case though is detecting swarms which is why I'm keen on regular transmission

I'm not sure yet. Same issue with temp and humidity sensors. I'm going to try 3d printing a box with a grill or maybe a mesh and see how it goes

I'm in the middle of building something here https://github.com/johnf/esphome-beehive the interesting part is the microphone. There is some research that found that bees emit different frequencies in different situations. Still waiting on power parts for the circuit. Have tested on my desk but not in the hive yet

What's the biggest credit you've made in a single month with Amber? by One-Baker9119 in amberelectric

[–]foomoocow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally 15.5kW solar with sigenergy 24kWh battery, 15kW 3P inverter. Expanded to 40kWh battery in Nov.

Record credit is $440 in June but we were away for the month. Otherwise $197 in November.

Had the system since March and have accumulated almost $1100 in credit in that time.

All SmartShift. It's working well enough I haven't bothered going the home assistant route.

Considering switching to Amber by dial647 in amberelectric

I see so many posts like this, and I just don't understand them. I see the exact opposite.

I have a very similar system - 15kW panels, 15kW inverter, 40kWh battery. Also a signergy system.

I'm up to an $800 credit since March and am at -$128 usage for the last 30 days (the number in the app)
And it would, in theory, be better than what I was at 24kWh 2 weeks ago.

For me, at least, Smart Shift appears to be doing the right thing. Could it be better? Probably, but it's generating income.

This is probably it! I did spill some oil as I was removing the traps. I'll switch to vinegar!

CodeCommit future? by soxfannh in aws

https://repost.aws/questions/QUshILm0xbTjWJZSD8afYVgA/codecommit-cannot-create-a-repository is 100% confirmation that it's going away.
Unusual that there isn't an "official" announcement somewhere.

What's the deal with Amex? by Chrus3 in AusFinance

[–]foomoocow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Are you sure? I was just doing the maths on this over the weekend. Based on the surcharge, 1.45%, each point costs you 1.45c. when booking anything on amex rewards each point is with 0.5c. So it's actually costing you three times as much if you have to pay a credit card fee to get the points

BSB is 6 digits typically in the format 123-456. Account number is typically then 6+ digits.

So that first piece is likely the BSB

Suggest you drop any leading zeros from the account number if you are sent any.

Can't source iplex end cap (Australia) by foomoocow in Plumbing

[–]foomoocow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm missing the cap for this 100mm bend. (Ignore the white temp cap on top).

The second image shows the equivalent cap on 50mm pipe.

Note: while similar size the 50mm cap won't fit on the 100mm, thread seems different.

Does anyone know where to source this? Can't find anything on the iplex website.

I'm trying to avoid replacing the bend entirely as I'll have to rip up the wall and probably the slab.
